No, I am not making wine or grape jelly!! I am going to decorate our dining room table for Fall. Decorating with blue is hard to say the least, because there’s not many realistic items to use. Example, I find flowers and fruit are not true blue.
So when I started planning for the dining room table I thought about using grapes for the blue accent, along with my blue painted pumpkins. 🙂 I knew I had several clusters of faux grapes up in the attic from my Tuscany décor years. Brought them down and as I thought they are all the wrong color. You know I love a good design challenge! I pulled out purple and black craft paint and went to work.
Not sure if I will use the green cluster, but will paint the cluster just in case.

HOW TO PAINT FAUX GRAPES
I didn’t have a dark purple in my paint supply, I mixed some black and added it to purple to make a dark grape color.
Using a brush to paint the grapes on the cluster was the easiest way to paint them. I wasn’t sure if spray painting the cluster would get into all the spaces, plus wasn’t sure I could find the color purple I wanted.
I kept turning and pushing my brush in between the grapes to get everything covered.
Making sure I had plenty of paint on the cluster, letting them dry about 1 hour or so.
Taking a lightly damp cloth, place the dried painted cluster inside the cloth and rub around the cluster removing all the excess paint.
They turned out better than I expected.
Now that it worked I painted all the clusters, even the green one.
I will wait to see if I can incorporate the green cluster in my design.
Next week I will share how I incorporated the grapes. This week is the planning and preparing part of decorating.
Happy this project turned out, I can check off purchasing grapes from the list. 🙂

God bless you! ♥
Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Great idea, Terrie! I love the rich, deep hue of the purple you created!
Thank you Christine!
Those grapes turned out so well! I would never have expected how realistic they look just using craft paint. Awesome job Terrie. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tammy, it surprised me as well. Never know until you try. ha!
Pinned it! Never know when a different color might be needed for a vignette or arrangement. Clever!
Exactly! I really didn’t know how they would turn out and thought if it didn’t work I could soak the grapes in bleach water and remove the paint. Glad it all turned out the way I hoped. Thanks Donna!
Awesome Terrie. Way to make it work.
Pinned!
Thanks Cindy. Yes, I always try painting before running to the store to pay a new item. Thanks for stopping by.
