Hey there! Welcome to another round of the $100 Room Challenge , created by Erin from Lemon’s, Lavender, and Laundry. I can’t believe I am even thinking about doing another room project. I just put away the paint and paint brush. To be honest, it never sits very long around our home anyway. My brain is always going 90 to nothing on ways to keep our home feeling fresh and new. One way I am able to do this is by keeping it budget friendly, this challenge is a perfect way to keep the cost low! The Challenge is pretty easy to follow – spending only $100 to makeover one room in your home having 1 month to do it in. The reasoning for the challenge is for our readers, you, to be inspired and realize even if you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend, you can still create the beautiful home you imagine.
This will be my third time participating in the challenge. Here are my past two rooms I completed.

Yesterday was the first day of the challenge, since I had our DIY Challenge hop I decided to post my room today. This month we have 5 weeks to finish our rooms. So are you wondering why I am changing up the entryway again?
Our Entryway
I know, I just changed the look of our entryway two years ago, but the faux shiplap has to go. The white walls brighten the space so I will be keeping white in the room. The entry table does not serve a purpose so I will be removing it as well. To check out what our entry way looked like before the little makeover you can click here → ENTRYWAY MAKEOVER.
Let’s take a look at the room as it stands today.
My goal for the room
- Replace the faux shiplap with board and batten.
- Add hooks for guest’s coats, hats and purses
3. Replace the table for a sitting area.
I would also like to replace the area rug with a new one if the budget allows.
The challenge has begun, I removed everything from the room, first step will be the walls.
Let’s see how far $100 will go.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
I love this entry already, but I know that making it more functional (with a bench) will be perfect. So happy to have you joining the challenge again!
I love the challenge not only to enjoy projects around the home but to push me on things I put off. I have been wanting to change this up but since it isn’t a room we use on a daily basis it got pushed to the side. So happy to be tackling it. Thanks Erin.
Oh my goodness, Terrie! I’m super excited to see the final reveal! Everything sounds wonderful, especially the board and batten! Love that look! Good luck, my friend, and most importantly have fun!
Christine I can’t believe I am taking another room project with the holidays close at hand. Call me crazy. ha! Thanks girl. I am sure I will be having tons of fun. lol!
You have a great space to start with! It’s going to look so nice when you’re done
Thanks Tracy. I can’t wait to get started.
I love your board and batten idea. The hooks will be so practical! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do!
Dara this is such a fun challenge. Can’t wait to see the room in progress. Thank you for visiting my page!
Your plan sounds perfect for the entryway! Can’t wait to see the finished project.
Thanks Donna. I think it will looks so nice with all my inspirations. Now to roll up my sleeves and get it started.
What a great little space! Board and Battan will really kick it up a notch. Looking forward to seeing your project complete
I think so too Jackie. I love the white walls I have now because there isn’t any natural light to brighten it up. This is such a fun challenge to push us to do what we keep on our to do list. ha!
I’ve got my mom and dad’s old tv console in my entry. It’s just a tad on the large side. I’ve been toying with a bench for awhile…. it just makes more sense. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!!!
with the budget I doubt I can find the type of bench I want in the room so I will have to get creative and make one. ha! It’s fun working on the challenge with you.
Hi Terrie, your ideas sound perfect. You will get maximum use fir the space, besides who doesn’t love board and batten?
I’ll be cheering you on.
Cindy
