Here it is –Kristin’s kitchen renovation reveal! I’m so excited to finally be sharing how the kitchen turned out. With Kristin being sick with COVID, we had a two-week pause.  In order for us to finish this project to share with you today, it took us working Friday 16 hours straight.  It was worth every minute!

Let’s start by taking a look back at where we started.

Here is what it looks like now!!

Kristin’s original inspiration for the kitchen stayed on track with a few minor changes.  Here is the inspiration board we made prior to the renovation.

A few changes were made, using gold hardware and light fixtures in the kitchen instead of the original plan.

Here’s a reminder of our project and the challenges:  To view more details on each project click the blue title of each challenge.

KITCHEN CABINETS

The first step was removing the decorative trim and valance from the cabinet.  Next was painting the cabinets. I painted the cabinet doors and drawers here at our house. Just the painted cabinets made a huge difference.

I spray painted the old hinges with gold spray paint.

KITCHEN COUNTERTOPS

We took one Saturday to go pick out countertops.  She went in with a particular countertop in mind, she left purchasing a totally different look.  She went with a Quartz countertop in the pattern called Chantilly.

KITCHEN BACKSPLASH

After the countertops were installed, we started adding the backsplash.  Kristin picked out Catalina White 3 in x 6 in Polished Ceramic Subway Tiles, this was our first-time installing single subway tiles, actually it was easier than we thought.  I like how the white subway tile with white grout kept the small space from looking overwhelmed.

KITCHEN SINK

Her old kitchen sink was a double stainless steel with a 1980 faucet.  She went with a White Ceramic 32 .25 in. Double Bowl Farmhouse Apron Front Kitchen Sink. from Home Depot.  Since it was an apron sink, we only had to cut a few pieces of the cabinet in order for the sink to drop in.  She went with a Wayfare, Elements of Design Heritage Double handed Kitchen Faucet with Sprayer.

She was nervous about mixing metals in the kitchen, I researched and found, adding warm metals like gold brings drama into a space when placed with cooler metals like Chrome.  I think it looks great.

Kitchen countertop decorations

She purchased most of her decorations from Target and Amazon, while in bed with COVID.  Using the wood tones with all the white warms up the space quite nicely.

Next to the sink, she didn’t want any fuss, placing a Round Footed Wood Serve Stand Brown – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia which holds two Janxin Glass Soap Dispensers and a MR.SIGA Bamboo Palm Brush.  I wanted to add more, but she shot me down.

To the other side of the sink, we placed a Buruis Wood Paper Towel Holder.

Keeping the countertops with items they use on a daily basis; a coffee station was created.  We placed in the corner their white Keurig.  Next to that are all the coffee supplies, we placed a Large Double Handle Wood Serve Board – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia in place of a tray.  On the board sits a Wooden Mug Tree – Hearth & Hand with Magnolia holding white mugs. Next to the mugs we placed two Stoneware Canister with Wood Lid  Cream/Brown – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia to hold coffee and tea.  The above items were all purchased in Target.  The spoon rest, gold teaspoons and spoon holder (we didn’t use the stand) all were purchased on Amazon.  To add a little color to the space we placed a Faux Gypsophila Leaf Arrangement also by Hearth & Hand also from Target.  The little double tray was an old piece I had; I spray painted it gold to match her decor.  It’s perfect to hold her K-cups.

If you are wondering what is on each side of the Keurig, they are self-adhesive STORAGENIE Coffee Pod Holder for Keurig K-cups, purchased on Amazon.

To the other side of the range;  we placed another cutting board, 11″x16″ Wood Cutting & Serve Board Brown – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia, sitting on the board to hold all their wooden utensils is a Stoneware Utensil Holder Cream – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia.  Adding two more cutting boards leaning up against the backsplash for no reason other than it’s pretty.  In front of the cutting boards sits two Stoneware Bottles from Hearth and Hand holding oil and vinegar. Last thing is a Mud Pie, Brown and White, 10 x 5 1/2″ Beaded Spoon Rest Set.

She found the wooden Salt and Pepper grinder set on Amazon.  And the three Dry Goods Stoneware Canisters in Target.

How cute is this Lola Creates Farmhouse Mail Organizer?  A perfect place to keep things tidy on the counter.  A small Faux Pilea Plant also from Hearth & Hand was placed next to the mail organizer to give the corner a little pop of color.

Dining Area

Let’s move to the dining area.  I could just sit and stare at this space.  So pretty!

THE TABLE

To strip the table and bench, it took two coats of the stripper and  a lot of sanding to get the old stain off.

Here is a before photo of the table with the grey stain and grey painted legs.

It was so worth the time and effort, I love the natural wood color.

FOCAL WALL

Deciding on the modern board and batten was the perfect choice.  I love the design and how it gives a statement to the room, also it ties the two spaces together with the bottom cabinet and wall painted the same color.

Kristin found a frame on Target online site, drove to two different stores to get it.  She was a persistent little devil.  Glad she was!

It is so pretty hanging up on the wall. (It’s no longer available in Target).

Window Treatments

As of right now, the windows will stay bare until Kristin decides on what she wants.  She isn’t certain she wants blinds or roman shades.  She has created her dream kitchen she shouldn’t make a quick decision on something so expensive.

Light Fixture

Changing the light fixture to this 8 – Light Dimmable Modern Linear Chandelier made the room look even more stunning.  Found the fixture online in Wayfare, comes in black, gold and chrome.  We hung the fixture 34 inches from the tabletop.

CENTERPIECE

Kristin wanted to tie in the stoneware color onto the table with the cream vase she found in Home Goods.   She purchased some Faux Olive Branches off of Amazon to place in the vase.  It is simple and elegant.

Main Wall Color

The main wall color is a custom color.  We mixed grey paint and white paint to get a light color of grey.   To get the soft grey we use one gallon of basic white (no color mix, right off the shelf) and 1 paint sample of Drizzling Mist by Valspar together.  It’s a very soft color and looks great with the Powel Grey.

That’s it! We are thrilled with how this entire space turned out.  Now it’s time for Kristin and her family to enjoy their newly renovated kitchen and have us over for dinner soon!!

Thanks for coming by and watching us work on this project, I am always appreciative of your visits.
