BACK PORCH PROJECTS

Hello everyone!

I am so excited to have the back porch projects done to where I can start decorating it.  The porch is all screened in, fan is up, and the floor is all stained.  It all looks so good.  We are so happy with how it turned out.

We hired Etheredge Awning & Iron Works to screen in our back porch.  It was a very challenging job since we have brick decorative pillars that are not squared at all.  Randy Etheredge and team worked their magic and done an awesome job!  I would highly recommend them!

Remember my photos in a previous post of our porch?

Here is our screened in back porch!

The next project was painting the back door.

I cleaned the door and windows to get it ready to paint. We removed the screen door that once was up.  I filled the holes with wood putty, sanded it all down to make sure all the screw holes would not be noticeable after I painted it.

For those that follow my Facebook page you have already seen the door painted.  The paint color is called Tarragon Tease by Behr. I applied 3 coats.

The door all painted.

Up next…..ceiling fan.

Our plans were to add two ceiling fans in place of the recess lighting.

We found out if we used two ceiling fan we wouldn’t have enough room between fans for the air flow.  We decided to to just add one ceiling fan to the center of the recess lighting and put a dimmer switch so we can control the brightness of the recess lighting.

I found the fan on Ebay for a forth of the cost.  It is a Home Decorator, Palm Cove outside fan.  It was a display model that was missing the light fixture.  The light fixture broke so the store sold it “AS IS”.   Nothing was wrong with the fan and it was in mint condition.  Works for us since we didn’t want a light fixture anyway.  I love it!

Next up was tackling the floor.

My vision was a faux wood look.  I had Plan A all mapped out in my mind, but when it came to the day of doing the floor I ended up doing Plan B.  I decided not to do the thicker paint to create the wood grain, I did a more simpler version.  I have the tutorial on the whole procedure HERE if you want to go check out the whole floor project.

After staining the floor we noticed that when the concrete was first poured the concrete contractor did not make the surface smooth.  You can see the stroke marks in some area.  Even with the imperfections we love how it turned out!

Have to wait 48 hours before we can place the furniture on the flooring.  I will be sharing the back porch revealing on Friday!  Hope you will come back to see how I put it all together.
