BATHROOM MAKEOVER ON A BUDGET

Oh my gosh!Ā  I am so EXCITEDĀ today!Ā  I finally get to share with you Kristin’s bathroom. šŸ™‚Ā  We worked our tails off getting this bathroom exactly how she envisioned it. I think we did it!Ā One thing I had to focus on was keeping this makeover on a budget.Ā  And…I think we did that also!Ā  I won’t keep you in suspense.Ā  Let’s get started!

We didnā€™t change the footprint of the bathroom, it’s the same floor plan.Ā  Here are the before pictures with all the things we changed in the room.Ā  If you are new to my blog, welcome, so glad you came over.Ā  To catch up on the bathroom makeover you can check out the beginning to the end of our bathroom journey by clicking ā‡’Ā Ā A BATHROOM MAKEOVER.

As you can, see we had our work cut out for us.Ā  We took one project at a time.Ā  I can tell you that there was a lot of hard work with each project.Ā  I was in my glory, but I think I was the only one. šŸ™‚

Here it is!!! All done and ready for her to use for the first time since she bought the home.

We absolutely love how it turned out.Ā  Let me take you through the room and what we did.

The very first thing was the cabinets.Ā  We painted the cabinets and changed out the hardware.Ā  To see the full blog on the first step you can clickĀ ā‡’ Painting the cabinets.

Her vanity had a built in makeup table.Ā  She wanted to have two shelves in place of the opening.Ā  We cut out boards the size of the opening, trimmed the boards and painted to match the cabinets.Ā  Now she has two shelves to store her towels.

We placed a dark wicker basket to hold her hand towels and wash clothes.Ā  On the bottom shelf we added rolled up bath towels.

To the vanity top.Ā  We did a stained concrete overlay.Ā  The only part that I am not 100% happy with would be the sinks.Ā  Next time we do this, we will check the flow of the sink before sanding and staining. šŸ™Ā  We had low spots in both sinks, resulting in having to fix the drainage which means we had to sand, overlay, sand, stain and seal AGAIN. šŸ™

You can check out the concrete overlay tutorialĀ ā‡’ Concrete overlay.

The lantern was purchased at Home Goods on our Black Friday shopping spree.Ā  We knew it would look great on her vanity.Ā  Don’t you just love the lantern?

The framing of the mirror was a fiasco.Ā  We couldn’t remove the white frame, I had to come up with another way to frame out her mirror.Ā  To check out that tutorial you can clickĀ  ā‡’ Framing of the mirror.Ā  Ā Even with some hurdles we finally figured out how to frame the mirror.Ā  Doesn’t it look great?

The window was awkwardly placed in the room.Ā  When standing in her bedroom doorway you can see both windows.

Without the curtain in the bathroom it looked unfinished.Ā  Where the window is placed you couldn’t hang both panels normally.Ā  We decided to hang the curtain to one side.

With the room being narrow and long, we placed the shower curtain higher than normal. Hanging it higher gave it a more dramatic and larger feel to the room.

We had a hard time finding shower hooks that she liked.Ā  One day I was just browsing on Amazon and the perfect shower hook popped up.Ā  I love how they mimic the handles on the cabinet.

What a perfect place for my DIY Chevron arrows.Ā  If you want to see my tutorial on how I made the chevrons you can clickĀ ā‡’ Chevron arrows.

Remember the thrift store shelf?Ā  We placed the shelf higher on the wall so it doesn’t get in the way of the walking area.Ā Ā Plus, it’s the perfect height to hold her robe without it touching the floor.

If you missed the blog on how I revamped the shelf you can clickĀ ā‡’ Thrift store shelf.

She received the HOME sign for a housewarming gift.Ā  We placed it on the shelf and nothing more.Ā  Just nice and simple.

Another thrift store project for the bathroom, do you remember the stool?Ā  I just can’t seem to get over how well the stool looks now with it’s new look.

If you missed the blog on Tuesday about how I transformed this stool you can check it outĀ ā‡’ Thrift store stool makeover.

I just love the floor.Ā  I think it completes the look of the room.Ā  Finding the ceramic tile on sale was a terrific, unexpected find.Ā  So happy that we decided to go into Lowe’s that day.

You can check out my blog on how we installed the flooringĀ ā‡’ Flooring.

    1. Thank you Maria! We are so proud of each project and how well they look together. I learned a couple things on the counter top that I will do differently when we go into her guest bedroom. Yes…..she wants the same type in the other bathroom upstairs. She wants to keep the bathrooms upstairs the same style. Thanks again for your sweet comments.

  1. You (all) out did yourselves…!! You brought K’s vision into reality…It is an awesome make over…!! I don’t think anything scares you…you just jump in with both feet & get it done. From the light fixtures to the new floor…I love it all…!!šŸ’›!!

    1. Thank you Lucy. I am so happy that it turned out the way it did. Kristin’s so proud of her bathroom and is very happy that she is able to use it now. It was a long process for sure. Thanks for stopping by today!

  2. OMG!!!! You gave me great advice for framing my awful mirror. This is exactly what Iā€™m going to do with my hardware also! This is amazing!
