SIMPLE SEWING CORNER

Hey there!  Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  I share budget friendly decorations by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂

Just a few more touches and my craft room will be complete.  To follow my progress, you can go review previous craft room blogs here → CRAFT ROOM.

In my craft room I wanted a space where I can set up my sewing machine and my sewing supplies to do quick sewing crafts.  I use to sew all the time and would have a lot more to store in the space back then, what I do have now is just enough.  I have plenty of storage which means it is nicely organized and easy to find when I do a project.

I took my son’s old desk giving it a new coat of paint and gold hardware.  It has plenty of storage for what I need.

On top of the desk I added my sewing machine under it’s cover since I don’t use it as much I will keep it covered.  I think I will be making a cover to use instead of the one it came with, but for now it serves it’s purpose.

To the side of my sewing machine I added a frame, a flower container to hold safety pins and my DIY dress form pin cushion.  If you want to see how I made her you can review here → DIY DRESS FORM PIN CUSHION.

Above my sewing desk I created more storage. I utilized all my area and kept it cute as well.

I placed a shelf to hold some colorful buttons and a glass jar with small spools of thread.  I was surprised at all the buttons and thread I had tucked in a cabinet in the laundry room.  I did purchase a few more buttons to finish filling up my containers.

Above my shelf I placed two spool holders to house all my threads.  Again, I didn’t realize I had so many spools.  I didn’t purchase any of those, I even threw some away. 🙁

I placed a little DIY craft button and needle made out of a paint stir stick and a Dollar Tree salad plate.  I drilled 4 holes into the center of the plate and thread some yarn to resemble a button.  I took a paint stir stick carving the shape of a needle.  Isn’t it cute?

I created a frame board to hold some of my tools.  I used some left over MDF from my work station and an empty frame.  I cut the MDF to the size of the frame.  I attached batting and material to the MDF I attached it with brackets to the frame.

I added my Clown Jumbo Scissors revamp, cutting mat, my surebonder glue gun the glue sticks are tucked neatly inside the wooden crate.  I broke my Rotary Cutter so I will be replacing it will be hung on the board as well.

Next to my desk I placed my DIY Dollar Tree dress form.  I changed up her skirt since the last time you seen her.  To view the tutorial you can catch that here → DIY DOLLAR TREE DRESS FORM.

So this is my little sewing corner.  All my stations are finished.  I will be sharing my craft room real soon.
