For my craft, I am making a Fall wreath for Kristin, our daughter.  She sent me a wreath she would like to hang on her front door.  I gathered supplies I had on hand in hopes I can make the wreath without going out and buying anything.  I have to say I will have to get creative.

How to make a Fall olive and greenery wreath

She wanted a hoop wreath with Olive branches, Fall greenery and elegant ribbon.  Here is what I gathered up to make her wreath.

For the hoop, I didn’t have one on hand, but I did have an old Dollar Tree 18-inch wire wreath form and part of a Dollar Tree kids luau raffia grass skirt.

Create the wreath form.

Like I said, I didn’t have a hoop wreath form, so I am making something similar.  Taking a the wire wreath form and cutting out the two outer rings for the wreath.

I cut the smaller of the two rings with my snips so I can add the two together.

Using the luau grass skirt I removed a couple of the strands off the string.

To keep the grass strands long, just slip the knot out by pulling apart the 4 strands.

With hot glue, attach the end of a strand to both wire rings.

Keep wrapping and gluing the grass strands to the rings.  When your smaller rings runs out, use a piece of the rings we cut off.

Attaching it with hot glue to the end of the ring, continue to wrap the grass strand until both rings are wrapped.

Using Minwax Wood Finish Semi-Transparent Espresso stain to darken the grass color.

Adding greenery to the wreath.

For the greenery I am using Hobby Lobby Sage Green Spiked Fern Spray, I am guessing I am using one full spray and a half of another one.  A piece of an Olive Bush, I painted the olives of mine a deep purple, mine was a bright green.

Shaping a long piece of the fern in the shape of the wreath.

Add the curved stem to the wreath, wrap the floral wire around the wreath and base of the stem to secure the stem.

Fill one side of the wreath with fern pieces.

Do the same thing to the other side.

Taking the pieces of the olive bush, with floral wire I made two bundles.

Wrapped wires from the bundles to each end of the fern stems.

Filled in the bottom space with pieces of the olive bush.  I tied a shoe string bow to finish the bottom portion of the wreath.

For easy hanging on the door, I sewed one small piece of the ribbon together on the hoop.

I hope you like how I made this modern traditional Fall wreath!  It’s easy to modify to make it your own!
