I am so glad you stopped by to catch the last space to decorate for fall here in the family room. We are decorating the central focal point of the room, our fireplace!
This year I wanted a simple look, but still a mantel that had beautiful fall foliage on it. I decided to use sprays, picks and stems instead of a garland.
I found this print off of Etsy that has all the fall colors I am using, and it goes perfectly with the newly painted brick. The name of the print Rustic Fall Floral by Dandeesouthprints. It’s a charming vintage imperfection, with cracks, grains and scratches to enhance the true beauty. The imperfections are part of the artwork; it has rich color tones with a rustic flare.
I placed the print in a frame I already had on hand. Placed it up in the center of the mantel wall. It goes perfect with the newly painted brick.
The first spray I placed on the mantel was 3 Hobby Lobby Magnolia leaf and pinecone spray.
I can’t tell you how beautiful these sprays are and how easy they were to style. It has different shades of brown leaves and are a velvety texture. Each spray has 3 different sized pinecones which can be placed anywhere since it has a wire stem to them. It also has wire trigs to make the spray even more realistic.
The reason I am using stems and picks instead of a garland is because using single pieces allows me to have control of the shape and positions of the look I want each piece. I placed the first spray with a downward curve and the second stem to the left edge I also bent it with a downward curve. The third spray I placed it to the other side and bent it with an upward curve.
Having the ends go up and down draws the attention to the mantel making it fee more spacious and inviting.
Before moving with more stems and picks I added my Kirkland’s mercury glass candleholders to the mantel. I have had these candleholders for years. Instead of using black, wood or gold I decided to use the mercury glass. The mottled appearance of mercury glass creates a warm glow and a unique inviting look to the space. Mercury glass is a perfect choice for fall.
Back at decorating the mantel, the next stem I added were 3 Dollar General light brown eucalyptus stems. I love how the back of the leaf is a blue/grey undertone. I added the eucalyptus to create depth to the arrangement while the magnolia brings elegance and sophistication.
Where the 3 magnolia sprays were connected, I added 2 Hobby Lobby cream Laurel picks.
I have to say not only does the pick add beauty, but it fills in the gaps quite nicely.
To give the arrangement a pop of unexpected color, I added this wine-colored fountain grass stem. Not sure where I picked this up at, I have had it in my fall stem collection forever. I cut them off the stem and stuck them here and there in the arrangement.
The last stem I placed in the arrangement was the Hobby Lobby blue berry spray. The blue gives a calming contrast to the warmer tones I have plus it gives a little twist to the season. I only used 2 sprays, cutting them in singles to place into the arrangement.
Let’s finish this space by decorating the hearth. I placed my wicker stacked lighted up pumpkins I purchased in Kirkland’s last year. Unfortunately, they are not available this year, but I saw some in Walmart that are just as cute.
I placed an Amazon berry wreath in between the two pumpkins for a pop of color.
I placed my small black lantern to create a strong contrast next to the stacked wicker pumpkins.
This will finish my fall family room. I hope you enjoyed looking at the way I styled our mantel and hearth this fall season. I also hope you found some inspiration as well. Next week we will be styling our master bedroom and dining room for fall. Please come back and check out how I have those two rooms styled.
