IDEAS FOR AN AUTUMN BENCH

In today’s blog post I am showing you how I styled my hallway for fall.  The way I decorate the bench area is not just in a hallway or on a bench, it can be used in other rooms in your home.  So, it should be fun and simple to recreate, if you are ready, let’s get into it.

First thing I did was lay down the Runner that once was in the family room in front of my chest of drawers.

I really like the runner and thought it brought warmth and color to the opposite side of the family room, but it served no purpose, so I moved it into the hallway under the bench.

The runner will be an excellent addition to the hallway; it will provide both functionality and add a visual appearance to the space.

Bringing back my DIY skinny bench , placing it back under the family frames.

This will help break up the space, add some of that warmth and give it some character.  Since it is a skinny bench, it allows enough room for a walkway plus it helps give the space an elevated designer look.

Mixing the Black frames and the wood bench adds depth and interest into the space.

Next, I wanted to finish off the bench with accessories, I started off placing one of my favorite Rust fall throw blankets, this one was from Tj Maxx I purchased several year ago.  I love plaid during this time of the year; it reminds me of warm flannel button up shirts and hayrides.

Moving on to the other end of the bench.  I want to keep on adding warmth to the space by adding back the Call it Home book.  The color complements the rust throw blanket on the other end of the bench.

I purchased the book on Amazon; it was a little pricey for a book to only decorate with.  It does have some beautiful photo pages that can be inspirational as well.

A book adds texture and can be used as a riser if you need to elevate an item, which I need to do for my vase.

To the book I placed back my DIY vase that I made over with an old ginger jar I had.

In the vase I am adding a bare twig stem for filler and three Dollar General Brown and green long leaf eucalyptus stems.  I found the stems last week in our store.  Each stem was $3 and has a real look to them.

The back side of the leaves are brown which ties in with the plaid throw on the other end of the bench.

To add the finish touches to the bench I added a pumpkin.

I found the Textured pumpkin last year after season on Beall’s clearance shelf.  The pumpkin was a black pumpkin, but for $4.49 I picked it up knowing I was going to paint it.

After placing the pumpkin on the bench next to the vase, I stepped back and realized it needed a pop of color.  I pulled out my Blue wooden beads draping them on the pumpkin down to the top of the seat of the bench.

I do love how cozy the bench looks with all the warm tones and rustic feel.

Alright y’all this will wrap up the fall decorations in the hallway.  I hope you enjoyed it, if you like how these types of blog post, make sure you come back to see more of my fall decorating.  I will have plenty of more decorating ideas to share with you.
