It’s week three of the One Room at a Time and today I’m sharing how much I have done since last week. To catch up on the last two weeks:

Last week I gave the hutch a new look and painted the base of the kitchen table, I still had the paint brush out so let’s start with the items I finished painted.

Bench Wall

Painted the bench and window frame with Black Magic by Walmart.  I sanded, primed and painted both pieces.

I think the black magic compliments the Dovetail paint on the hutch and table.  In place of the sign, I added the crescent wall art I had in the family room.  To the coat hooks I spray painted them with flat black by Rust-oleum.

The Corner

Next, I turned to the tray tower corner.  The only thing I changed in this space was painting the letters with Black Magic as well.

I still have the kitchen chairs to paint and the bar stools, that is on my list for next week.

Light Fixture

We decided to go with a black fixture purchased on Amazon, Modern Black Chandelier, Metal 6-Light Fixtures by ONESMING Store.  The larger light fixture fits the space better, don’t you agree?

Changed the light bulbs to E12 LED Bulb 5000K Bright Daylight, 40W.  Now, instead of yellow tones in the room we have a nice bright space.

Window Treatment

How I Made the Nook Look Larger with Drapes

Here is a trick to make the room look larger.

The curtain rod up over the windows and door stops at the end of the window trim, here’s a photo so you can see what I’m talking about.

I changed out the curtain rod that fits a window 120 – 177. This goes all away across the back wall and stops about 6 inches from the wall.

Using only one panel to each side kept the drapes snug up against the windows.

Keeping with the style of the drapes; I took the drapes from the family room, which are the same, and placed with the other pair in the kitchen nook.  I have 3 panels on each side now.

As you can see, the curtains go all the way to the corner.

Now, after I changed out the curtain rod and added more panels to each side.

Now, I have to figure out what I am going to do with my family room’s windows.
