SUMMER PORCH REFRESH – INSPIRATION AND IDEAS

Kicking off One Room At A Time series with the front porch is a great way to push me to work on the porch, it’s been awhile since I gave our front porch some attention.

If you didn’t catch my video yesterday on Facebook here is a little recap.  Tammy, Patina and Paint, Corine, Junk to Gems and myself are starting a new series called One Room At A Time.  In this series, we go into a room in our homes giving it a refresh, changing the décor or cleaning and organizing one day at a time.

MY PLANS FOR THE FRONT PORCH

Before starting any project, refresh or makeover, I always like to search for inspirations.  I think planning is as fun as actually working on the project.

Here are the things on my list:

  1. clean the porch area, pressure wash the brick and sidewalk
  2. paint the concrete floor of the porch
  3. give the milk can and planters a fresh coat of paint
  4. create a new wreath for the door
  5. add some decorations to the walls of the porch

CLEANING

Cleaning the porch in itself is like giving your porch a refresh.  It doesn’t cost anything, but a little of your time.

I am sure everyone has their own way to clean, so no reason to give you inspiration on cleaning your porch. 🙂

PORCH FLOOR

The first thing I am going to work on is the porch floor.  I found this pretty photo of a stenciled porch floor done by Homestead 128.

Floor was stenciled by Homestead128.com

I couldn’t find the stencil Homestead 128 used, but I found one in Walmart that’s just as pretty.  I will be sharing in a video how I stenciled our porch floor tomorrow.

REFRESH PIECES FOR THE PORCH

The next project will be giving the milk can and planter a fresh coat of paint.  I saw this photo by Pamela, Homeonfernhill, I love the look of her planters.  That’s the look I want for my pieces, I’ll share the transformation Wednesday on Decorate With Us.

DIY WREATH

To save money I love making wreaths for our front door.  For some reason I am crushing on  lavender and hydrangeas right now,  the two made a beautiful wreath.  Thursday, I will share my DIY wreath for the 10 on the 10th blog hop.

ACCESSORIZE

Adding touches to the porch to achieve a warm and welcoming vibe for our guest.  I saw this photo on Pinterest, maybe I can add something like the lanterns on each side of the door.

As you can see I have my work cut out for me.  I will be sharing how I painted the porch floor on my social media tomorrow, hope I see you there!

Now, let’s click over to Tammy and Corine’s porches to see what type of goals they are setting. 🙂
