SPRING CLEANING THE FIREPLACE

Hey there!  It’s time to turn off the fireplace and turn on the air conditioning!!  Today, I am sharing how I clean the fireplace insert for the spring/summer seasons.  Come Fall, I will be giving it a deep cleaning, but for the summer months I want to make sure it is dust free.

For a couple of reasons, we turn off the gas in the Spring/Summer.  When your pilot light remains on, a small amount of heat is generated and when the pilot light is off, you save money and help to conserve energy.

It’s not a very hard job to clean the insert and surroundings of the insert.  I use my vacuum with an attachment, spray cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

Simple steps on cleaning a fireplace insert

With my vacuum attachment I vacuum the inside walls of the insert, logs and chain curtain a good sweeping.

To the metal parts, inside and outside of the insert, I use a spray cleaner and microfiber cloth to clean it all.

Another item I can marked off my Spring-cleaning list.

Now that the cleaning is finished, it’s time to decorate!!

Another change to the mirror doors, I sanded the white paint from the frame and added it back to the mantel along with the candle holders.  I did add a frame and vase of flowers.

The frame has changed a little, I gave the flowers a little tint of purple.

To the hearth I added back my lanterns, the larger one with a wreath and candle and to the smaller one I added wicker balls to the glass votive.

If you have a fireplace gas insert, do you clean it?  By using my simple steps, you can have it cleaned in minutes!
