Welcome back to One Room at a Time | Half Bathroom Makeover. For 4 weeks, Tammy Patina and Paint, Teresa Through a Vintage Door and myself brought you along as we gave our half baths makeovers, I will have their links at the bottom of my page.
It’s official, the half bath project is complete. And let me tell you this…. I’m so HaPpY with how it turned out! Actually, it came out better than I hoped and another thing…. I did it all under $200.
BATHROOM MAKEOVER
Before I jump into the reveal, let’s look back at what the bath looked like prior.
Bathroom Projects
- Changing the walls – Adding wallpaper and beadboard.
Before, the walls were uneven textured painted walls. I added joint compound to the upper walls to create a smooth surface to apply the wallpaper.
To the bottom of the walls, we added beadboard with trim.
I added peel and stick wallpaper Nuwallpaper Breezy, it was so easy to work with.
I painted the beadboard Perfect Greige by Sherwin Williams. The paint brought out more colors in the wallpaper.
- The Vanity – Change the look of the cabinet.
The cabinet had an orange tone wood, the cabinet itself is in great shape but the color of the wood would not work with the new look I was going for.
I changed the color of the cabinet and added feet to the kickboard.
To see the cabinet transformation, you can view the two tutorials below.
HOW TO BLEACH WOOD | ADD FEET TO YOUR VANITY
- The light fixture and mirror – replace the light fixture and mirror.
The globes seem too heavy for the small space and for the mirror’s frame I thought it was too thick for the look I wanted.
As I was looking for a light fixture, I kept coming back to the oiled-rubbed bronze two lighted fixture with clear glass globes. So instead of buying a fixture similar to the one we already have, I decided to replace the globes with Skelang 2 Pcs Clear Glass globes.
I sat the mirror up on the vanity and to my surprise I liked how it looked so I added it back to the wall.
- Tank handle – Adding a new tank handle.
Changing out the handle was an inexpensive and easy thing to do. The toilet got an upgrade as well with a Fluidmaster Toilet Level.

Bathroom Reveal
Come on into our half bath!
I moved the shelf I had up in the Master bedroom to the long wall in the half bath. Added two Black metal candlesticks I found on Amazon, I did add some copper paint to have them blend better.
To one of the hooks of the shelf I added a Kirkland’s Eucalyptus Mix Stem, wrapped the stem with twine.
To the towel ring I added a Leisofter plus soft blue hand towel.
Dressing the vanity with a couple of my DIYs.
On the vanity I placed my DIY Wicker Basket Stand with a small plant to the bottom of it.
To the side of the stand, I placed a dish with soap and lotion I found in TJ Maxx. I like the dish to keep the water from standing on the granite countertop.
To the small side of the vanity I added a vase with stems.
Above on the wall I added my DIY Dollar Tree Mirror and Jenga block design.
I placed a frame I found in Kirkland’s Spring Planter Framed Art Prints, Set of 3, they sold them separately in the store.
The print didn’t have color to it, so I added the blue to the flowers.
I placed my Waste Basket Makeover to the corner.
I placed a 2′ x 3′ Shag Blue Rug for a soft and cozy feel.
To keep the rug from moving, I placed the Rug Grippers to the back side of the rug.
To view my review on the grippers, you can read here ZONGOOL RUG GRIPPERS.
I can’t believe how much the room has changed with a little money and some hard work. I love how it turned out, I know I say this often at the end of my projects, but I really do love it!
