I went into Goodwill the other day; I found a couple of items to decorate in our Christmas home this year.  Today, I am sharing one of the items, a Christmas topiary, I’m giving it a makeover.

You just never know what you will find when in Goodwill.  I was excited when I spotted this spiral potted evergreen topiary sitting on the shelf.  I also found out it was senior citizen day, I received a discount on my entire purchase.

After the discount the topiary only cost me $2.19.

Christmas Topiary Makeover

Addressing the faded greenery

What will I do with it?

I decided to coat the greenery with fake snow.

To catch the snow, I placed a container underneath the plant.

Starting with the bottom working myself up, I sprayed adhesive to the greenery.

Spray small sections at a time.

Sprinkle the snow onto the adhesive section.

Continue to do the same steps all the way around the topiary to the top.

Turning the plant upside down and shake it to remove the loose snow.

Fluff the greenery by pulling the greens apart, let dry thoroughly.

Adding lights

Added a strand of battery-operated lights to the topiary.

Hiding the battery pack inside the container.  Tucking in the lights into the greenery, wrapping it around the plant.

Updating the container

I painted the container with charcoal color paint.

Before the paint dries, I sprinkled flour all over the wet container.  Let dry for several hours.

With a soft bristle brush, sweep the flour off the container.

I just love how this thrift store topiary turned out.  Simple change made a huge impact.

I hope you enjoyed how I took my thrift store topiary to the next level.  Thanks for coming by, come back for more Christmas fun!
