Through my grown up life I have decorated our home in several different colors and themes. This year I am having such a fun time decorating in the traditional colors and with Santa. The thing about decorating for Christmas there are no set rules on styles. Taking the spirit of Christmas and letting your style flow.

Our Christmas dining room, you will find a little bit of different décor styles. Our dining room furniture and the Tartan plaid linens are both traditional, the white wooden pieces I used in my centerpiece would be a rustic farmhouse style, dishes have a country flare and then adding a little glam style with the stem ware. Like I said….anything goes.
Let’s start with my DIY table runners. I shared how I saved money by making three runners with one tablecloth. I have it saved in my feed on Instagram and highlights on Facebook.
Taking a closer look at the place setting.
I love to layer, each place setting started with a plaid charger I found at Michael’s, my dinner and salad plate I found a couple years ago after Christmas for each piece under a dollar. I topped the setting up with a napkin matching the table runner I purchased at TjMaxx. I used a Dollar Tree mitten ornament for a napkin ring. I placed a Dollar Tree green stemmed glassware to complete the setting.
For my centerpiece I am using my thrift store wooden tool box and some floral Christmas stems I purchased at Old Time Pottery. To view my thrift store find you can click here ⇒ TOOL BOX MAKEOVER.
I used several picks and stems to create the arrangement. I placed a 3 looped bow with the same ribbon I used on the tree.
Do you remember my DIY Dollar Tree candle holders? Here they are !!
To check out my tutorial on how I made both you can click here ⇒ LANTERNS.
Here is how I decorated my candleholders.
- I took one of those Dollar Tree wreath forms and cut it in half to make two mini wreaths.
- I used a green pine pick from Walmart adding it to the wreath
- placed it inside the glass container, I tucked in berries, pinecones and a piece of a crystal pick
I added two reindeer to each side of the tool box.
Turning to the wall I placed another framed Santa from Kirkland’s.
To my wall sconces I added greenery and a bow to give a touch of Christmas. I added two ornament throw pillow to both chairs in the corner.
Inside the china cabinet on the top shelf I added a Christmas platter to each side along with a silver Christmas tree and Santa. I thought the silver complemented the crystal. The middle and bottom shelves I added 4 Christmas vignettes.
#1 I used a larger magnolia decorative plate, a believe plaque and a Christmas bundle from Old Time Pottery tucked inside a container.
#2 Christmas village. I found the Christmas village at a thrift store. Had every intention to give the village a brighter color, but when I gave it a good cleaning it look fine as is. I added quilting batting for a look of a snowy ground.
#3 Flea Market sleigh and mercury glass Christmas trees.
#4 Decorative plates, glass votive candle holders and a Noel plaque.
I gave a little Christmas touch to my wine tower.
My tree this year is decorated with snowflakes, snowballs, white, red and green ornaments and three types of ribbon.
My topper for the tree is actually a table Christmas decor piece. I shared on my stories how I attached it to the top of my tree with a dowel rod and Dollar Tree’s garland wire ties.
I tucked Dollar Tree large snow flakes in the tree.
Adding some snow ball picks to give it the winter feel. Three types of ribbon I purchased at Old Time Pottery.

Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. I wish you a Merry Christmas!
Everything looks so pretty and festive!! I love the village.
Thank you so much Michelle. Finally having all the decorations completed was a huge accomplishment for me. Don’t know why it was so hard this year getting things done. I love the village too. I was going to do a makeover on it but decided against it. So happy the way it looks in the cabinet. Happy Holidays my friend.
Terrie,
So pretty, I use runners the same way on our dining room table. It’s different.
Love your pillow and the lanterns you made look great dressed for Christmas.
Cindy
Thanks Cindy. I like the runners that way too. Gives the table a different spin. Great minds…right? Have a great weekend Cindy!
