DECORATE WITH DIY HOME DECOR

Hey there, welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  I share budget friendly decorations by creating from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂

Today I am sharing some of my favorite DIYs in our family room.  If you have followed my blog you have seen all the tutorials. 🙂  I want to share one thing I have been asked a lot: “Do you keep your DIY project after the blog post”?

I am listing a few of my DIYs in our family room I placed for the blog and they have stayed in the room even after the tutorial posted.  Below I have listed a few of my favorite ones in the room.  Click on the title I will take you to the tutorial.

DIY BLANKET LADDER

This tutorial was super easy and very affordable, it cost $8.27 to make yourself.  I have a lot of fun decorating the ladder during the holiday.  It is just not for a blanket, I have placed garland, wreath, towels, baskets and I also placed lights on it.  This is a great piece to have in your home.

Here is how I have it styled today.

For those that would rather purchase a ladder I found a cute one on Etsy, go to the link by clicking here ⇒ FARMHOUSE BLANKET LADDER.

RE-PURPOSED LOUVER DOOR

I found the bi-fold door at a thrift store.  I cleaned it up and gave it a little paint. I placed it against the wall in our family room.  This is another fun piece to decorate.   To find a piece like this could vary in price.  To purchase a vintage door could run way up into $100.  I paid only $10 and a few touches of paint.

DIY SUNBURST MIRROR

I host a DIY Challenge the first Wednesday of the month.  I enjoy this challenge.  It pushes me to design a DIY for our home.  In August 2019 I challenged the group to build a sunburst mirror.  I priced a large wall piece to hang on the wall behind the sofa, WOW how expensive that would be.  Created a piece myself kept the price lower than ever.

SHUTTER SHELF

I was never really happy with the items I had beside the sunburst mirror.  While being home bound it gave me a chance to look for inspiration for two pieces of wall decor to blend in with the rustic style of my mirror.  Taking an old shutter and some scrap boards I created what I think are two pieces that work perfectly with it.  Not a bunch of money for a huge wall statement.

WALL CLOCK MAKEOVER

This makeover turned out to be one of my favorites.  Adding beads from another project and paint gave my old wall clock it’s new look.  I love how this makeover turned out.

DIY FAUX TOBACCO BASKET

This DIY was a challenging one.  I have several blind slats I removed from a window blind.  I took a couple blind slats, cutting the blinds and forming a basket.  Again, taking some time and creativity I created a faux tobacco basket to go up on my wall with the two I purchased.

I hope my blog gives you inspiration to tackle a few DIY home décor projects.
