In today’s blog post I am going to be working on the sofa wall. I sold my sunburst mirror and sconces on marketplace and want to create a warm rustic vibe for the wall.
Since I sold the wall setting, I have been starring at a blank wall for over a month now.

The last couple of months, little by little, I have been working in the family room trying to warm it up with muted colors, textures and warmer wood tones.

I ordered and downloaded the Muted Olive Tree Sketch from Luna Prints Designs Art off of Etsy in the size of 24×36.

Uploaded the file on Walgreen’s site in a poster print, same day pickup. They had a code to give me a 50% discount!
Making the prints look like an oil painting since I don’t normally keep the glass in the frame, I added Mod Podge to the entire print.

I applied the mod podge on the print as if I was painting over the picture.

Let the mod podge dry thoroughly. In the meantime, I am using a black plastic 24×36 poster frame I purchased at Walmart.

I do not like the look of the plastic gloss finish the frame has, so I painted over the frame by using chalk paint and my dark wax to give it a faux wood look.
Gave it two coats of chalk paint, one coat of wax and one coat of poly.

After the print and frame dried, I placed the print and backing to the frame, I discarded the plastic glass.
I placed the frame to the center of the table and sofa. I also added two black metal wall sconces to each side of the frame.

Taking a view of the room with the wall setting, I am sure it isn’t large enough for the wall!

I went ahead and decorate the table to see if it helps the look.

To one side of the table I placed a black textured stoneware vase full of faux greenery stems.

To level the table, I placed two wicker boxes to the other side.

The last few fillers to finish the table’s decor are my stoneware jug dupe and wooden beaded ring accent.

I don’t love how the wall is looking, but before I take everything off the wall. I decided to let it sit this way for a day to make the decision, do I get a larger frame or add more to it?

So, it’s the next morning and I decided to add to it. I jumped back on Etsy to Luna Prints and ordered two 16×20 prints to go with my larger frame. I ordered and downloaded the Rustic Pottery Painting and Simple Flower Painting. Again, ordered the prints same day pickup on Walgreen’s website.
Picked them up, ran to Walmart and grabbed two poster frames in the right size. I mod podged the prints and painted the black plastic frames to a dark faux stained look.
I removed the frame and sconces off the wall and all the decor on the table. Starting all over again!

I placed the muted olive tree to the right side above the sofa table, not in the center.

Added the two smaller frames to the left of the table, centering them evenly spaced since they are smaller together than the larger frame.

I then added back the black metal sconces.

Lastly, added all the decor same as before to the table.

Ok, so here is what the wall looked like before the wall project started. Very warm with all the wood tones.

And this is how the wall looks now.

I’m loving how warm and rich the setting looks up above the sofa and how it creates a theme to the space.

I think it is going to be a timeless, classic setting arrangement that I can enjoy for a long time.

I still have a couple more projects in store for this room and I’m excited to share more in the near future.
This became a little stressful project with things not going as I had planned. But, if it doesn’t work the first time, try, try again! And I am sure happy I tried it again!
