DINING ROOM PROJECT REVEAL

The long time dining room reveal is finally here, I have been talking about the dining room refresh for awhile now.  It wasn’t anything major like knocking out walls or a major transformation, it was a mini makeover to give the space a style it was lacking.

Refreshing a room doesn’t mean you dislike the space, a little refresh can go a long way!!  Whether it’s adding a new light fixture, new drapes, great florals or giving the walls a new paint color can give an all around new style to a space.  I am so happy the dining room is finished and it’s cohesive with the rest of our home.

Here is what the room looked like back in 2017.  (This is the last full view photo I had of the dining room).

Before

After

Let’s talk about what I changed in the room.  The first thing I changed was the wall color.  Before, the walls were painted with Behr paint color Pure Earth, keeping the wall color the same throughout our home I painted the dining room walls with Greensheen paint color Cream Batch.  The room has already brightened up.

The curtains I had up were curtains I made myself.  I love the style of the curtains, but when taking them down I noticed the sun had faded the curtains, which meant it was time to retire the curtains.

To achieve a classic look I went with a solid colored drape in the similar color as the shade on the wall.  The curtains are Royal Tradition Victoria drapes purchased on Amazon.

Next was changing the light fixture.

I fell in love with the wagon wheel light fixture when I first saw it.  I couldn’t wait to get this up.  We had a little emotional problem with the length, but we corrected the problem.  So happy with the look the light fixture brought into the room.

I replaced the wall sconces that were once placed on each side of the china cabinet.

I added mirrors I found at Kirkland’s to replace the sconces.  Adding mirrors to a room gives the appearance of a larger room, reflects light which will brighten up a space and will enhance the focal piece in the room.

So here’s the dining room with the changes I made, I think it made a huge difference!!!

  1. Love what you have done in your dining room! The paint really brightens the room, the light fixture is perfect and I love the textures you have used on the table. I wouldn’t have thought changing out sconces with mirrors would make that big an impact. Everything is just lovely!

  2. Terrie, everything looks pretty. Tge new chandelier makes a big difference. Loving the new drapes too, they look elegant without being stuffy.

  3. Terrie, your dining room update turned out so pretty! It’s lighter, brighter, up-to-date but still timeless. Love the new light fixture and the mirrors next to the hutch.

    1. Thank you Stacey. It was a long time needed up-dating. This room got put off because we don’t use it as often. I love how it goes with the other parts of our home. So happy to see you here. Thank you again.

    1. I think so too Jenna. It’s funny how a few things can make a room feel so much different. Thank you for coming buy and visiting my blog. Happy Tuesday.
