Our inspiration photo comes from Katrin at Northern Feeling . Katrin did an amazing job decorating her holiday jar. It is so cute! Below, I am sharing what her holiday jar looks like.
I am using a clear apothecary jar for my version of her jar. I’m sharing 3 ways to decorate my jar for the Christmas holiday. Since we are using an inspirational photo let’s take a closer look at Katrin’s jar. She used bottle brush trees, fake snow, fairy lights and paper houses. I am using the same basic elements but instead of the paper houses I will be switching out the main themed item to create 3 different looks.
Since I am using a clear glass container I cleaned it before decorating. I added my silver wired battery operated fairy lights first to my jar. (Don’t mind the felt circles at the bottom, I placed them there to protect the surface I place it on).
Adding fake snow to the jar covering up about 1 inch thickness from the bottom.
I added 3 different size of bottle brush Christmas trees to the jar, wrapping the uncovered lights around the trees. I placed a little village house in front of the trees to complete the first jar decoration.
Removing the house and adding the famous little vintage car hauling a Christmas tree on top.
The last apothecary jar decorations will be the star of the show, Santa and his sleigh.
So many ways to style an apothecary jar or a clear container. I shared how you can use two Dollar Tree glass bowls to make a snowman globe. To check that tutorial out you can click DIY SNOWMAN GLOBE.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
I love them all!! So magical! {of course I am drawn to the vintage car with the Alabama A!} Love the snowman globes too, so pretty!!
Thanks Jenna. I had a lot of fun playing around with the jars and Christmas decorations. I love the look of little items in a glass container.
Terrie, I think you should go out and buy more supplies so you can have ALL of these projects all over your house! They were all so cute! I, too, try to buy next year’s supplies after the holiday; only way to go!
Thank you so much Kathy. I do love how fun it was changing up the decorations in the jar. The only time to get a great bargain is shopping off season.
What a beautiful job! I love what you did with your challenge. Pinned.

Terrie, anything with a red trunk or sleigh is so cute for Christmas. I love how you used the truck and the sleigh and the lights in your glass jar. It will be great to use during the holidays. Lovely job.

Looks so great! Love all your ideas with the house and the little truck and sleigh! The double one is so cute too!! So creative and pretty!
Thanks Kristin. It was fun working with the glass container. I never done this before so this challenged pushed me into doing something different.
Terrie, I love all three of your jars! I don’t know if I could choose a favorite. The truck is too cute, but I also adore the Santa with his sleigh. I think the truck with a tree on top is one of my favorite Christmas images because it makes me think of bringing a tree home to decorate. It’s great to give us many beautiful options. Happy Holidays, my friend!
Thank you so much Crissy. I love anything with Santa. I have to relate with your comment on the hauling the tree home memory. What fun times we can remember. I hope you and your family has a great fall/winter season. Stay safe!
