DIY FARMHOUSE SIGN

Hey there, welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  Today I am still sharing DIYs for my mantel.  I shared my DIY Eucalyptus Candle Holder Wreaths with you on Monday, Tuesday I shared a video tutorial how I styled my glass vase and today is a cute little framed décor to sit on my mantel.

When I was working on the nursery over at our daughter’s home I shortened the blinds on both windows.  Way too many blinds sitting on the seal.  You know me….I hate throwing anything away so I brought them home with me.  The blind slats were sitting in my craft closet waiting for me to come up with an idea to use them.  I FOUND ONE!!!  It is so cute y’all!  Here is what I did with the left over blind slats.

The supplies I used for this Farmhouse sign

  • an old wooden frame
  • 6 blind slats
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun with glue sticks
  • paint
  • miniature grapevine wreath
  • eucalyptus sprigs
  • ribbon
  • vinyl blessed word (made from my cricut)

I like to look at wooden frames when going into a thrift store.  They are the best frames to find.  I grabbed one I previously purchased, cleaned it up and sanded the back of the frame.  I will be using the back side of the frame on this DIY.

I will be using 6 slats for this project.  The frame will hold 6 straight across with out cutting the width of my slats.

I measured the length of my frame, took the measurements and marked the blinds where I need to cut.

To cut the blinds I used my scissors. I placed my cut slats into the frame.  Since I am using the back of the frame I will be placing the slats onto the lip of the front of the frame.

I painted half of my slats Robin Egg blue.  I dry bushed the paint and then wiping it off.

I added a small eucalyptus wreath on the frame.  Making the wreath the same way I made my larger wreath.  You can find the tutorial here ⇒ EUCALYPTUS WREATH.

I took a piece of ribbon, placed it through the wreath and hot glued it to the top of my frame.

I am using my Cricut to print out the word blessed.

Found the center and applied the wording onto my sign.

The sign will go up on my mantel.  I can change out the wreath with different styles to go with the seasons.  This is so cute!

I found a similar sign on Etsy for you  FARMHOUSE BLESSED SIGN WITH WREATH.  You can decorate your home on a budget by making one yourself! 🙂

    1. Thanks Michelle. I know they really do look like wood pieces. I have several more that I am going to figure out what I can use them for. Always fun having things you can create and re-purpose.
