DIY PAINT STORAGE INSPIRATION

Hey there!  Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  I share budget friendly decorations by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂

I am happy with my storage unit I created out of the shelves and ladders which holds all of my chalk paints and paint supplies, but I still have all my craft paints to store.

I looked through Pinterest like I normally do for ideas.  I saw many ways to store paints, the one caught my eye was from Jennifer over at Jennifermaker.com.  Her PVC pipe wallflower is what I want in my craft room.  I love the size of Jennifer’s craft room, since my room isn’t as large I am going to make my flower a little smaller. I ordered the items online at Lowes.com.  My items came the very next day.

This would be great for a craft room, school room for parents that home school or even a class room.  It’s a great piece to have in any room to hold paints.

Here is my version of Jennifer’s wall flower.

I measured and marked my PVC pipe 3 inches.  I had 8 even pieces.  Mr. Tip had a friend cut my pipe for me.

I placed all the pieces around the collar.  I used 7 of my pieces.  I could of cut the pieces a little deeper than 3 inches if I knew I only needed 7 pieces.

I marked where the rings touched.

Where I placed the mark I measured on the outside of my pipe to find the center.  Mark and drilled a hole.  I did this to each side where I marked on the 7 rings.

Using a bolt and nut I connected the rings all together.

Adding the collar to the center of my rings.  To connect the rings to the collar I drilled two top holes and two bottom holes into both the collar and ring.

I spray painted my two pieces.  Taking them outside and giving them two coats.  I am using Rust-oleum UltraCover Lime Green for the center and Brilliant Blue for the outer part.

Once they dried I attached the collar to the PVC flower with bolts and nuts.  I bent down the little petal like part of the duct collar

To hang my flower on the wall I used a picture hanger.

Placed it above my paint storage unit on the wall.  I used a 50 pound picture hanger.  It will be hidden once I place the paints inside.

I separated all my paints in colors.

Added all my paints to the flower.

I love how my wall looks and the amount of storage I have just for my painting supplies.

  2. Clever! Love the colors you chose. The Urban Farmer is a retired sheet metal worker and of course knew exactly what the duct collar is. You keep coming up with great ideas!
