Hey there! Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! If you are coming over from Liberty, B4 and Afters welcome, so happy to have you here! Don’t you just want to make those trees she shared? I do! If you have followed my blog, you know the first Wednesday of the month I host a DIY Challenge. I gathered a group of bloggers who also loves to create budget friendly décor for their homes. For the November’s challenge I asked my friends to gather up pieces they have sitting around their homes and create a custom Christmas decorations to style in their homes. We are sharing how we can get creative with extra scraps, old decorations or broken unwanted items, with only one rule, no shopping to buy supplies. At the bottom of my page I will have all of my friend’s links to their blogs so you can go check out their Christmas creations.

I am going to share how I take my every day framed art and turn it into a Christmas frame. I have done this several times and each time it works out perfect and saves on storage space. WIN-WIN!
I took the frame off the wall and removed the print from the frame. It was attached with staples. Do you remember this frame from a previous budget friendly wall decor? I revamped the same frame. To see that tutorial you can click here WALL DECOR ON A BUDGET.
Painting the surface of the print entirely with Waverly chalk paint in the color Cashew. Giving it two coats.
Taking the frame and a piece of shipping paper large enough to fill the whole frame, I freehanded a Christmas tree in different shaped blocks.
I placed a number on each section to remind me how I want them placed on my board. I traced the pattern onto the painted board.
After I traced the pattern onto the board, I cut the pattern to create 13 individual pieces.
I selected 13 different color paper out of my scrapbooking stash. I lined them all up the way I wanted them to be placed.
To glue each piece to the board I am using vinyl wallpaper paste. You could use Mod Podge as well.
I applied the glue to the back of a section, placed it on the board using the lines as a guided. I used my Cricut roller to roll out all the air bubbles.
After I let the paste dry over night, I gave it one coat of Minwax Polycrylic with a sponge brush. This will prevent the pieces of paper from curling, plus it gave it a pretty sheen.
Let the poly dry for 12 hours. Placed it back into the frame attaching it to the frame with staples using my staple gun.
