Today, I am excited to be sharing a cute DIY garland with you, it’s not hard just time consuming.

Supplies:

  • 2 packages of Dollar Tree ping pong balls
  • heavy duty wire
  • chunky yarn
  • butcher twine
  • hot glue and A LOT of hot glue sticks
  • Dollar Tree wall plaque
  • lighter

Instructions:

  1.  Cut your wire the length you want your garland to be.  I am using 5.5 feet.  Take your ping pong balls out of the package.

2.  String your ping pong balls on the wire, using a lighter heat up the end of the wire.  ( I kept the flame on the end of the wire for 10 seconds).  This allows the wire to go easily through the ping pong ball.

3.  Secure ping pong ball in place.  I measured out 2.5 inches between each ball, used hot glue at each hole of the ball.

4.  Wrapping the chunky yarn around each ball using hot glue.

Wrapping the ping pong ball

  • Apply glue in line then put the yarn on the glue, do this to all 4 sides of the ball.

  • Continue to wrap the yarn as above.

Cut your garland in the center to create two small garlands.

5.  Wrap the wire with yarn between each yarned ball.

Wrapping the wire

  • Apply hot glue to the wire, I wrapped the wire in 4 to 5 layers.

  • Wrap the yarn around the wire with hot glue at every layer of yarn.
  • Using the butcher twine wrapping over the yarn for contrast.

6.  Customize your Dollar Tree sign to fit your decor.  (I am painting the edge of mine).  Remove the string.

  • I painted the edge with Rachel Pink.

7.  Attach each end of the garland to the Dollar Tree sign.  Place the wire through the drilled hole, curl the end to prevest from slipping out of the holes.

8.  Wrap the two wires like the above instructions.

Added two bows to each drilled hole.

9.  Make a loop with the end wire to add tassels to.

I made two tassels with both the yarn and butcher’s twine, tied it on at the loop.

Hang it up and enjoy!!  I love how this turned out.  What do you think?  I added it to the laundry room coat hooks along with a few bunnies.

A quick glance at the Easter touches I placed in the laundry room.

Found the cute bunnies in Burke’s Outlet, painting the bottoms pink, of course.

Put some stems and dish towel in the pail along with a cute bunny.

Thanks for stopping by and watching me create a cute garland for our laundry room.  Next week we will be decorating our family room. See you then!
