DOLLAR TREE CHALLENGE – 4TH OF JULY MANTEL

Hello friends!

Only 5 days left before the 4th of July, can you believe June is over?

I am so excited to be sharing all of my Dollar Tree’s DIYs together in one spot.  I entered my mantel in a 4th of July Dollar Tree challenge.  A group of friends got together to join a Dollar Tree challenge, the challenge is creating a July 4th craft/decor not exceeding $15 using 80% Dollar Tree items.  I had a lot of fun decorating my mantel for the holiday!  This is my first ever July 4th mantel!!

Here are the items I found at the Dollar Tree….I spent my entire budget of $15.00.

  •  2 foam boards – $2.00
  • 2 packages of the bandannas – $2.00
  • 1 package of fan decorations – $1.00
  • 1 blue star cup – $1.00
  • 1 package of mini flags – $1.00
  • 1 package of curly ribbons – $1.00
  • 1 head band – $1.00
  • 1 bundle of faux onion grass – $1.00
  • 1 bundle of flowers with stars – $1.00
  • 1 metal star wand – $1.00
  • 1 metal star wall decor – $1.00
  • 1 candle pedestal – $1.00
  • 1 package of star votive candle – $1.00

Total amount spent $15.00

Let’s get started!

I kept my window frame up because I like the layer look.  I placed my DIY stars and strips boards up in the center of the mantel.  If you missed that DIY you can go HERE to check that out.

I purchased a package of patriotic fan decorations.  I open one all the way and the smaller one half way.

I added my silver candle holders to the setting.  The candle sticks and candy-cane striped candles are some of the 20% non-Dollar Tree items I used.  HERE are candle holders that are similar to the ones I am using.

Across from the candlesticks I placed my DIY Votive candle decor.  If you missed that DIY you can go HERE to see how I made that.

At the end of the mantel I placed the DIY firecracker pick arrangement.  If you missed the DIY on how I made the firecracker picks you can go HERE to check that out.

Heading to the hearth of my fireplace where I placed a basket and my DIY bandanna pillows.  If you missed that post you can go HERE to see how I made the pillows.  HERE is a basket similar to the one I am using.

I sat my basket on the hearth and added my pillows inside.  I placed a little single bandanna over the edge to give it a little more red and a little bundle of lamb’s ear to the back.

Placing my smaller lantern in front on the floor.  If you like the lanterns I have you can find them HERE.  I painted mine white since I purchased mine.

Few more views of my decor!

The over all look!

I really had to use my imagination on this challenge so the word “challenge” really was fitting.  Once I got things started it was beginning to be a lot of fun.  Maybe it is just me, but I love doing things that challenge me a bit.  If not, life would be pretty boring….at least for me it would be! 🙂

Here is the break down:

  • Little votive candle decor = $2.00
  • Stars and strips faux signs = $2.00
  • Bandanna pillows = $2.00
  • Firecracker arrangement = $7.00
  • 1 package of patriotic fans = $1.00 —-Total $14.00
