This month I am sharing how easy it is to make your own Christmas tree skirt for under $10. Here is a little do it yourself tree skirt that is very easy to do and is affordable too.
We only need four items
- 1 yard of fabric
- ribbon
- cardboard
- plastic bags
Measure your ree stand and add 4 inches more. Mine is 20 inches so I am going to cut a 24 inch circle out of a piece of poster board. I had this on hand but a piece of cardboard would work perfectly.
- Cut your piece of fabric into a circle.
- Place your piece of fabric pattern side down
- Place the circle of card board in the center of your fabric
- Add your Christmas tree in the center of your card board.
Take several plastic grocery bags and place around the base of your tree.
Gather up your fabric to the truck of the tree.
Take your ribbon and wrap it around the tree and your fabric.
Tie the ribbon and pull up on the top of your fabric to the shape you want the ball of your skirt.
Make a bow.
That’s it, step back and enjoy the view of a fun tree skirt that you made all by yourself.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
I love how simple this is! And so pretty, too!
I love the fact that I can have a tree skirt that fills the bottom of the tree without packages. Thanks Michelle.
Clever and cute.
Thanks Rhonda. This to me makes the tree look fuller and cute. Thanks for stopping by.
This is such a clever idea, Terrie. Now I need to look for holiday fabric!
Ann, you would love the looks of the tree skirt under your tree. I love how full it is. Happy decorating.
Terrie, what a cute and very simple idea. Love using up things you have around the house. Love the price!!
Thanks Carol. The tree skirt is so great for a tree without presents under it. Thanks for stopping by.
Great job Terrie and I love the list of names on the paper, cute touch.
We don’t always keep presents under the tree so I can get around easily.
Cindy
The list is a little DIY that I placed on the tree for the theme of the room. The room here is so small the packages would be in the walkway so I love the fullness the tree skirt.
This is a quick and clever idea – and I love the bright cheery fabric you chose! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Patti. They have so many different holiday patterns or just a neutral design. Making this yourself you can pick and choose what type fits your home. One yard of fabric is so inexpensive and you would get a custom tree skirt.
Terrie you always amaze me! I love this. I purchased a tree collar yesterday when I went to the store for essentials. Ha! However, I love this so much I may take the collar back. Or at least try this on a second tree…. Thanks for sharing.
Some of my trees I don’t put packages under which I don’t like to see a Christmas tree with nothing underneath it. This gives the tree a little fullness without having packages. I have always wanted a collar. I am trying to figure out how to make one this season. Might be another blog post. 🙂 Thanks for hosting this wonderful blog hop!
