It’s time for the May Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month’s challenge is about Father’s Day or projects geared towards the men in our lives. The challenge is hosted by Erlene My Pinterventures Blog. I will link all the participants at the bottom of my page.

For Father’s Day my dad isn’t with us, but Mr. Tip takes care of me so I like to show my appreciation on Father’s Day for him. I searched on Pinterest for some ideas, I scrolled to a BBQ Rub pin. YES….this would be perfect, I don’t have to go out shopping or have to order his gift, I can make it! I clicked on the pin which took me over to Beyond Good Intentions with Kristen Duke. I read her recipe then started searching my spice cabinet. I had it all!!!
Here is my version of the BBQ RUB ∼♥∼
Mr. Tip doesn’t mind grilling as long as it isn’t blazing hot or ice cube cold outside. 🙂 Before grilling he always likes to add some type of seasoning. This will be a perfect little gift for a guy that grills, don’t you think?
I made a couple batches to give to the other men in my life as well.
Below are all the ingredients it takes. You can print out the recipe to make or pin to make later.
I mixed all the seasonings thoroughly.
I wanted it to look pretty to give as a gift. I am placing the BBQ Rub in a little container that seals tight.
I found my containers on Amazon, they are not available now, here are some similar to mine ⇒ Circleware Mini Round Glass Spice Jar with Swing Top.
I placed a little chalkboard label and wrote out the words BBQ RUB, I used a permanent chalk paint pen. I tied a picnic red ribbon to the side.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
YUM! Handsome Husband loves grilling and smoking meats. He would definitely enjoy having a new dry rub. Thank you for the recipe! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
You are welcome! I am sure he will love adding the BBQ Rub to his recipes. It’s really good.
We love grilling and I love the sound of this rub! I appreciate that it’s neither super spicy or too sweet. I’ll bet it’s awesome on chicken and pork especially.
It is a perfect blend. It could be easily made spicy by adding hot sauce or sweeter by adding more brown sugar. A great thing making the rub yourself you can customize it however you like. We have tried it to both and yes it is delicious.
What a yummy idea! Hubby would love this rub
I think he would too. I hope you let me know if you try this recipe.
I love trying new rubs! I will have to convince my husband to try this! Pinned.
I hope he tries it. Doesn’t hurt to make a smaller batch to see if you like it, right? Happy grilling!
This sound so yummy and I love the idea of giving it as a gift! Saving for sure! Thanks for sharing, Terrie!
It really is a good rub. I hope you had a lovely Memorial weekend my friend!
I’ve never actually made a spice rub before, so I’d love to try this out on my grill! Nice gift idea!
Great recipe and I even have all the ingredients to make it. This is a great idea for dads who love to grill. My husband does and I’ll be sharing this with him.
I am so happy you are able to make it since you have all the ingredients. YAY! Let me know what you think?
I often make spice rubs and seasonings for gifts; this sounds like a fabulous father’s day idea. Pinned.
This will be my first time making a rub for gifts. I think it is perfect for our guys that grill. Thanks for pinning!
This is a great idea for men who love to grill. Sadly, my husband isn’t one of those, but I love this recipe and I’ll be passing it on to my son who is a great at grilling.
I know your son will love this rub. I love it with some lemon juice, soy sauce and olive oil. Hope he uses it and have you over for dinner.
Thanks for the recipe Terrie. I pinned it for myself. Funny everything you put in this I use but never did brown sugar.
Thanks again!
Cindy
I wouldn’t know how it would taste without the brown sugar. Thanks for pinning my friend.
