It’s time to decorate the mantel!! This is the largest piece I have to decorate. It’s not like the bookshelf where I need to have 4 different arrangements, but this needs to outdo the mantels from years past. I really loved how my mantel looked last year.
So, how did I decorate the mantel this year for Christmas? Want to see it, keep on reading or you can go watch me decorate the mantel in my video on my Facebook page or my YouTube Channel. Tammy, Patina and Paint will be sharing how she decorated her mantel as well, I will have her link down at the bottom of my page.

The Garland
As always, I start with a clean slate.
I placed nails up on my mantel to hold my garland in place. If you don’t like using nails, command hooks would work better for you.
To create a full garland on my mantel, I start with a basic Christmas garland for a base.
I wrap a piece of garland around each nail to keep it in place.
For the decorative garland I used a 6ft greenery garland and a 6 ft flocked garland with pinecones. I combined the two to make one full garland.
Using both garlands creates a mix garland, my tree is a flocked tree this year but in the other part of the room I am using regular Christmas greenery. Plus, using both creates a fuller garland.
Attaching the two garlands on the mantel to the base garland.
Look how much fuller the garlands look when combining the two together.
Now that the garland is in place, I added a strand of lights to the garland.
The Embellishments
To the garland I added picks of Frosted Crabapple Pick and whimsical berry grass like picks. Sticking them randomly in the garland.
Below the garland I added a 7ft strand of wooden beads.
I found the center of the garland, used a piece of garland to hold the center of the beads in place.
Taking each end and attaching it with a piece of garland at the end of each side of the garland.
To one side of the draping, I added Harmony set of three vintage bells I purchased from Amazon. Attached them to the mantel with another nail. Hanging the bells from the rope they came with.
To the other side I added Christmas stockings. Two furry off-white stockings and two dusty velvet stockings.
I used a piece of garland to hold each stocking up on the mantel.
To each corner of the mantel, I made bows out of velvet ribbon. Attached it to the garland with floral wire.
I also made two tassels with mini beads and attached them to the off-white stockings.
I added twinkle lights to the garland to finish the mantel.
Above the Mantel Decor
To the mirror I added this wood beaded wreath I found in Beall’s store, I changed it up to fit my decorations. Here is what it looked like when I purchased it.
And after I changed it up.
I centered it up on the mirror.
Adding three brass candle sticks to each side of the mirror with smoke grey tapered candles.
Here is at night with the lights and candles glowing.
I love how the mantel turned out again this year. I hope I inspired you in some way today! For more inspiration check out Tammy’s Christmas mantel by clicking on the link below.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
I LOVE your mantle. The extra garland to make it full is genius. Those larger bells…. I’m on the hunt for some. Your mantle is sophisticated , beautiful, warm and inviting just like you are. Great job and thinks for sharing!
Aw, Tammy you are so sweet. Thank you.
