Hey there! Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! It’s time for another Pin Challenge! This challenge is a lot of fun and gives us a chance to make something we see on our Pinterest feed.
To view all my past Pinterest Challenges you can click here → PINTEREST CHALLENGE.
The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! The pin I am sharing this month is a beaded pumpkin. I am sure y’all have seen these pumpkins all over your social media pages. I know I have seen them. I had all the supplies on hand so I thought I would try to make one for myself. The pin I am using for my inspiration is from DIYwithmyguy.com. Click to see her pin post. PIN INSPIRATION. Here is my version of her beaded pumpkin. I am sharing the tutorial with you as well.
I started out gathering all of my supplies. Here are the items I am using:
- 88 – 16mm natural wooden beads
- 1 roll of jute wire
- 1 wooden leaf
- 2 – 8mm red wooden beads
- twine
- wire snips and scissors
- hot glue gun with glue

WOODEN BEADED PUMPKIN
Using the wired jute cord to make the pumpkin’s base.
- cut 5 pieces at 22 inches
- glue the ends if needed. I took little hot glue to secure the ends to the wire. Wait until the glue cools a bit, using your fingers to twist the ends around the wire.
- taking 2 pieces of the 22 inch wire jute bend to find the center of both
- twisting to connect the two together
- taking the other two pieces and twisting to connect them to the center, as well
- making sure you twist the jute to form a line and not a knot
- thread the 11 beads onto each strip of jute cord
This is how it should look when all 88 beads are on.
- on each beaded strand there should be a 2 inch cord after the last bead
- start bringing each beaded strand above in the center
- taking the 5th jute wire cord and wrap it around the 8 pieces of jute wire forming a stem
I am going to add a few DIY embellishments to my pumpkin. This is where you can get creative.
I am using one Dollar Tree wooden leaf. I drilled a hole right below the stem and filled in the predrilled hole with spackle. Let the spackle dry and sanded smooth.
To hide the spackled hole I took some craft paint and painted my leaf with a makeup sponge.
Making a curl leaf out of a piece of jute wire cord, wrapping it around a paint brush handle.
Hot glued the curly stem to the back of the leaf.
I made a mini tassel to add to my pumpkin too. Taking twine and wrapping it around three of my fingers 6 times.
Taking another piece of twine tying it to one end of the loop to form the head of the tassel.
Wrap it around about 5 times and tie it off, trim the long ends off.
Cut the longer loops
Taking another piece of twine I threaded two red 8mm wooden beads.
Thread the twine through the knot of the tassel and tie it off.
Thread a piece of twine through the drilled hole of the leaf and the tassel and tie it to the stem of the pumpkin.
Shape your pumpkin to your liking, which is very easy since we used wire jute. Isn’t it the cutest thing???

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Thank you so much. I hope you do make one for yourself. You will have to let me know how it turns out. Happy creating.

I’m such a fan of the boho style right now, and this pumpkin is just adorable! Great tutorial too, Terrie! Thanks!
Hey there Christine. Thank you so much my sweet friend. I love all types of styles, boho is what I like in our master bedroom. I am so happy the tutorial was easy to follow.
What a fun DIY decor project. Like others, I didn’t know about wired jute. Very cool. I foresee something similar for Christmas…like a bell or an ornament. I want time to try this! Pinning.
Our Dollar Tree has had the jute wire cord for a long time. It’s funny how each store sells different items. I love the stuff and use it a lot.
Super cute Terrie, I didn’t know there was such a thing as wired jute, how handy!
Oh yeah, you need to get some of the jute wire code. It is a great staple in a craft closet for sure!
Fabulous step by step tutorial, Terrie! I’d love for you to share over at our Creative Crafts Linky Party https://creativelybeth.com/creative-crafts-linky-party-3-join-in-the-fun/

Ooo, wired jute cord! I’ve never seen that before and now I need some immediately, lol. This project is absolutely adorable and I think it works for all kinds of different decor types in addition to boho.
Marie, go get you some of the jute wired cord you will love it. Amazon has it if your Dollar Tree doesn’t.
Terrie, I have been trying to click through to your blog from my email and my virus protection keeps stopping the connection. Could you have been tagged with something nasty? Maybe my virus protection (Avast) is over-zealous. ha! Thanks
I am not sure why you couldn’t link over from the email. I tried it on my side and it went fine and also my hubby did through his just fine. hmmm. I wonder if it has something to do with the Avast popup blocker. You might want to try to see if you turn it off if it will allow the link to go through. Sorry for your troubles. I don’t want you to not miss my post!
These are so cute! Pinned.
Thank you so much Joanne.
