I want a cute sign to sit on my mantel this Fall, keeping it budget friendly I am going to make one. I can use mostly Dollar Tree items and a piece of board I had on hand to make it.  This craft is so cute y’all!

Here are the supplies I used to create my sign.

  • 1 Crafter square cut out wood pumpkin
  • 1 Dollar Tree Gather word sign
  • 2 Crafter square leaf wood ornaments
  • 20″ wooden circle
  • 2 pieces of 1″ x 15″ slats
  • scrapbooking paper
  • floral wire
  • paint
  • sand block
  • wood glue and hot glue

For the 20″ round piece of wood I used a scrap piece of underlayment I had on hand.  You could use anything 20″ from wood to metal.  I painted the round piece to look like reclaimed wood.

I painted the word sign, using gray and blue craft paint mixing it together to get the shade I wanted.

To dress up the two pieces of 1″ x 15″ I painted both with hazelnut chalk paint.

Next I took my wooden pumpkin and cut it to make 2 pieces.  I measured 3″ from the top to get my cut line.

To decorate the pumpkin pieces I used scrapbook paper.  I traced around the pieces, cut the pieces out and glued them to each piece.  I sanded the edges for a cleaner look.

Adding the slats to the pumpkin pieces.

  1. Placing a mark to the center of the slat and pumpkin pieces
  2. Add wood glue and hot glue to one edge of the slat
  3. Place it to the top edge of the pumpkin pieces

Finding the center of the painted circle.  Place the wording in the center of your circle with wood glue and hot glue.

Taking the two pumpkin pieces gluing them to the board making sure to center both with the wording.

I wanted to dress up the two leaves with pretty paper as well.  I traced around the leaves, cut out the pattern and paste the paper onto the wooden pieces.

Making curly vines to the leaves, I used floral wire wrapping it around a pencil.  Glued it underneath the leaves.

That’s it.  Look how cute!

This is adorable.  Most of the items were Dollar Tree items and few pieces I already had on hand.  I know you can purchase a wooden round piece from Home Depot for under $7.  You can purchase a package of the Dollar Tree wooden rulers for the slats, they would be a little shorter than the GATHER word, but it would still look cute.

    1. I know plaid is so cute on anything. I had to give this away to a friend because it was too large for my mantel. I did make a smaller version for my mantel and a leopard print for my daughter to hang on her door. We had to apply several coats of sealer so the weather wouldn’t harm it. Thanks Christine I hope you are having a great week!

    1. Thank you Rosana. It is such a cute sign for anywhere I place it. I wanted this up on my mantel but I guess my eyes were larger than my mantel. I had to make a smaller version. My friend was kind enough to take the larger one here off my hands.

  1. I love how your Gather sign turned out, Terrie!!! Really pretty with the soft plaid and patterned leaves. Very creative! <3

Happy fall and I'm glad to be with you all on the 10 on the 10th tour again,
    Hugs,
    Barb 🙂

  2. So cute! All the components look perfect together. Love the plaid paper especially. Have you always been artistic and creative?

    1. Thanks Cindy. I love how the sign looks too. It turned out to be too big where I wanted it to go so I gave it to a friend, I made one for our daughter’s front door using leopard print. That turned out so cute. I made a smaller version for my mantel.

    1. Thanks Patti. I do love my blue, I made our daughter one like this but used leopard print paper. It is adorable. I bet using black and white check would look great in your home this fall.

  3. What a beautiful sign for Fall! I found some wood disks at an estate sale over the summer and I’m collecting ideas for them. Thanks for the inspiration, Terrie!
