INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION DECOR!

Happy July 4th Eve everyone!

This is my last day at work this week.  YAY me!  But that doesn’t mean this girl will not be working.  I have a lot of things I want to get accomplished starting on Thursday.  First….I want to enjoy my July 4th with my family!  Do you have big plans?  With my husband, Jim having to work Thursday we are going to stay at home.  My daughter and son-in-law will be joining us for dinner.  Hopefully the neighbor down the road from us will be shooting fireworks to share.

Today I want to share with you my table area in the kitchen.  You know this is an area that I love to decorate especially for a holiday.  I am in LVE with the holiday colors and how it plays against my white furniture.

Let’s get started!

Let me start with my hutch… one of my favorite makeovers.  It has been over a year and I still love how it looks.  If you missed that blog you can check out the before & after HERE!

You might notice a few things I had on my fireplace are styled on my hutch.  The best thing about decor pieces, you can move them around your home to give a new look to another area.

Most of my red, white and blue decor was purchased at the Dollar Tree.

I placed one of the decorative fan in back to give the background a little color.

Have you noticed my DIY riser.  You can go see how I made that HERE.

The milk bottles are so cute.  I placed a little star ribbon around the neck and added a couple blue star straws inside.  Aren’t they just the cutest?  Love the details on the bottles.

The top shelf I wanted to point out the year on the plate.   That’s the year my husband and I got married! 🙂  I had to dust this plate off!  The little family star decor was purchased at Hobby Lobby.  You noticed my DIY red and white sign in the back ground?  I love how it plays off the blue in the vignette.

Another look….

Jumping over to my DIY HOME wall decor.  I changed out the wreath with a DIY Dollar Tree bandanna wreath.  Below I will give you a short version how I made the wreath.  On the chair I added one of my DIY bandanna pillows.

I made the wreath with all Dollar Tree items.

  • grapevine wreath
  • 3 bandannas
  • raffia

I took the bandanna and cut 2″strips.  I cut those strips in half and divided them into three piles.  Navy — white and red — red and blue.

Very easy to do.  You take the strips wrapping them around the wreath and tied a knot.  That’s all I did.

I took the navy with star first and tied them to the wreath.  I bunched them all together.

After I finished tying the navy star strips, I used 4 of the white and red strips then 3 of the red and blue stripes.  Going back and forth with that pattern until I was done with all the strips.

I fluffed out the ends of the knots to make a nice even wreath.

Using the raffia I took a long piece and made a bow tie.  Used floral wire to tie it to the wreath.  I cut the ends of the bow evenly.

Doesn’t this look so cute?

Now to the mirror wall.

I added a navy vase with three flags.

On the bench I decorated my double tier tray!

The little flag God Bless America sign I found that at Dollar General.  I went to a little fireworks stand and purchased the sparklers.  The candle, sparkle stars and the star lights were purchased at the Dollar Tree.  My Rae Dunn block sign was purchased at TjMaxx.

I added two pens from Dollar General on my burlap book.

Aren’t the battery operated lights cute when turned on?

The full view.

Now to the table.

Started off with my white tablecloth and a Dollar Tree scarf.  It was the perfect size to use as a table runner.

For my centerpiece I brought down one of my old hutch drawers from the attic, chalked painted and distressed it.  I added some Dollar Tree hydrangeas and two miniature flags.

I started the place setting with my DIY star charger plates.  If you haven’t seen my blog on how to make the chargers you can go HERE.

I already had the red plates (purchased from the Dollar Tree) and always love using my mugpie monogram salad plates with most of my kitchen tablescapes.  I have had the red plates for awhile, but I know the Dollar Tree still carries them.  The mugpie salad plates if you are interested in purchasing them for yourself you can go HERE and take a look to see if they have your initial.

I brought out my napkins that I used on my Christmas tablescape.  If you had not been over to see my Christmas table you can click HERE on how I used the napkins at Christmas time.

For the napkin ring I used a piece of the navy star bandanna from the wreath.  I just tied it in a knot and frayed the ends a little.  That’s it.

The glassware I found at Dollar General.  I placed a red, white and blue striped straw inside.  Next to the glass I placed a bottle of water with a koozie cup.  The koozie cups I found at a place called Ollie’s.  They were on clearance for .25¢ each.

I saw this bag of red, white and blue jelly beans.  I lined them up in a little glass votive cup and sat that at the place setting.

To add a “spark” to the place setting I added a little top hat that I purchased at the Dollar Tree in a package of 5.  I added a box of sparklers and a mini wand lighter.  To keep the lighter and sparklers together I tied a red, white and blue ribbon to a rubber band and wrapped the rubber band around the both of them.

I added a fun little DIY.  I purchased a fork and knife at the Dollar Tree.   I painted the handles to give it a little more character.  I sealed it with my miniwax sealer.

What do you think?

A couple more views of the table area in my kitchen.
