Hey there! Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! It’s time for another Pin Challenge! This challenge is a lot of fun and gives us a chance to make something we see on our Pinterest feed.

The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! The theme of this month’s Pin challenge is anything pumpkin or Halloween. Since I don’t decorate for Halloween I am sharing a pumpkin DIY I saw while scanning through my Pinterest feed. It’s a pin from Kirkland’s. The pumpkin is no longer available so I am going to make one similar. Here is the pin I am using for inspiration, KIRKLAND’S PIN. Here is my version of the Fall Knit Pumpkin Block.
I just love taking things I have on hand and making something pretty to decorate our home. This is one of those DIYs! Here are the items I used.
- piece of scrap board 8″x 8″
- piece of drop cloth
- burlap leaf
- antique wax by Waverly
- a knitted piece of fabric
- piece of ribbon
- 3 mini buttons
- piece of dowel rod
- hot glue
- needle and thread
- sewing machine
Before I cut my shape out of the wood I took a look at the Kirkland’s pumpkin dimensions. It measures 7.75 long x 1.5 wide x 6.75 tall. I took a piece of copy paper and draw a pattern out with those dimensions.
Taking the pattern and tracing it out on my board. Using a jig saw cutting the shape out. I also cut a dowel rod the size of 1½” for the stem.
Sanding both pieces with a sand block to smooth the edges.
The Kirkland’s piece has two layers, I am using a scrap piece of drop cloth. Taking the same pattern I used earlier, tracing and cutting the pattern out.
For the knitted piece I am using an old stocking hat. I traced out the pattern, measured 1 inch toward the center to create a smaller pattern.
To keep both pieces from unraveling I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges. Frayed the edges to both and trim even.
I attached the two pieces together with a basic stitch on my sewing machine.
For the labels, I hand wrote hello and fall with a permanent black marker on a ribbon.
Again pinned in place and stitched with my sewing machine.
Adding mini buttons for a little more detail. I stitched them to the ribbons
How cute!
Working with the wood block I stained with Waverly Antique Wax sanding lightly after the wax dried.
Adding hot glue to the back of the fabric I attached it to the wooden pumpkin. I also attached the stem to the pumpkin with hot glue.
Adding a leaf to the stem, I used a Dollar Tree burlap leaf. I trimmed it down and drew veins. Attaching it with hot glue.
Perfect for Fall.

Now, let’s see what the other hosts have created ⇓⇓
Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
You nailed it! I could hardly tell the difference between yours and the one from Kirklands. I love doing Kirklands dupes!
Awe thank you Cherryl, you are so sweet. I love my little knit pumpkin dupe.
Your pumpkin is so cute and pretty! I am impressed that you used a power tool – I am still afraid to try any of those!
I have slowly taken over my hubby’s tools. ha! I have asked him so many times to cut out a project for me, one time he didn’t do it quick enough so I did it myself, loved it so now on if I can do it I will try. ha! Thanks Lauren.
That turned out super cute! Your lettering is awesome. Even though the rest of the project required some work, too, the labels really make this a stand out.
Thanks Lydia. I do not have a very good handwriting so honestly it took me a slow pace to print the two words, probably longer than the whole project. ha!
You make some of the cutest things! I love this Kirkland dupe, especially since the store in our mall closed 🙁
Thank you Erlene. I love this Pin challenge. Give us all a reason to make things we would love to have. In our area they just opened a store. I love it…maybe too much!
I love it! What a great version. You included all the details, it’s perfect!
Thank you Julie. I wanted the little decor piece but with the item discontinued I tried making it. I love every detail. Thank you again for your sweet comment!
Your pumpkin is so cute! So funny that you called it a dupe. It looks awesome and the sweater makes it look so warm and cozy.
You did a wonderful job recreating this pumpkin! I like your “Hello Fall” better than the one on the Kirkland pumpkin. Super cute!
It turned out absolutely adorable Terrie.
Awe thanks Corine. It’s a perfect little decor piece to place any where in our home. I wish I would of been the lucky one and snag their’s on clearance. But I wasn’t so I did the next best thing.
You did a fabulous job recreating that! I love the variety of textures. Pinned.
Thanks Joanne. I love all the textures too. Thanks for visiting! Happy Fall!
This is adorable and I love the different textures. This is perfect fall inspiration my friend 🍂🍁🍂
Thank you so much Cindy. Anything wood and sweater is my Fall favorite.
Very cute Terrie!!
Thanks Jenna. It is the perfect little accent for a shelf or small side table. Happy Fall!
This is too cute, Terrie! And yours look almost identical to, if not better than, Kirklands! Imagine all the sales you could get if you had an Etsy shop! LOl!
Awe thank you so much Gail. I just love the Kirkland’s little pumpkin. It will look so cute anywhere in our home.
I don’t know if it’s that great to sell but I appreciate your kind words. Happy Fall Gail!
