I have been busy tying up all the loose ends in my laundry room. I shared some of the fun decorations I am placing in the laundry room last week, this week I had more painting to do. Whew!  I have a lot to share with you this week, I am sure Tammy from Patina and Paint has a lot to share with you as well.  I will have her laundry room’s update at the end of my post.

A reminder of what the room looked like last week.

Finishing all the projects

  • Light fixture

As much as I like the style of the ceiling light I have now, it doesn’t provide enough bright light.  The colored light shade gives off a yellow tone, which is not very good lighting.

I went with a simple light fixture, Clear Glass Shade, Matte Black Flush Mount Ceiling Light found on Amazon.

  • Painting

I’m not going to give you a tutorial on “How to paint” because I shared a tutorial on that previously. (How I paint).  For the trim, baseboards and closet door I used Behr high gloss basic white.

While the paint brush was still in my hand, I painted the hamper and my drying wall rack.

I sanded both lightly and painted them with Cracked Pepper by Sherwin Williams.

I spray painted the silver towel hooks that came with the rack with Rust-oleum flat black spray paint.

Another painting job was the exterior door.

Taped off all the hardware, sanded, cleaned and primed the door.

Painted the inside of the door with Functional Grey by Sherwin Williams.

I noticed the hinges through the years have been painted white.  I protected the door and spray painted the hinges with Rust-oleum metallic gold spray paint.

At first, I was going to paint the door and leave the trim around the door white, but …

I decided to do the trim around the door as well.  Much better, don’t you agree?  This is only the first coat; I gave both the trim and door 3 coats of paint.

When I added the Gray Floral Print Valance on the door, the colors matched perfectly and am happy I decided to paint the door a color than just leaving it white.

Let’s take a look at my project list.

  • Cabinets painted
  • Wallpaper on the wall
  • Bench wall completed
  • Washer and Dryer countertop installed
  • Home Decor gathered
  • Light fixture changed
  • Baseboards and trim painted
  • Hamper and drying rack painted
  • Closet door and back door painted
  • Hung the door valance

I think that wraps up the projects, well I hope so anyway.  Like I mentioned, next week is the REVEAL! I still have to clean and decorate, don’t worry it will get done, that’s the fun part!

After my work this week, here is how the laundry room stands today.
