NURSERY PROJECT REVEAL

This is the day I was waiting for…the nursery project is finished and I am so excited to share the reveal with you today!  Kehlani’s nursery is so beautiful….I mean when I say this, not because we did this room ourselves, but it is honestly beautiful.  Our daughter, Kristin had a vision of how she wanted the room to look and I think we nailed it.

Let’s take a quick review of what the room looked like before we started the nursery project.

And now…..

This project was a labor of love.  I can’t stop thinking about the first day we started both rooms, we had a huge job in front of us.  You can check the process of the project here NURSERY/BATHROOM PROJECT.

The furniture in the bedroom was all mismatched.   To keep it from looking like a room decorated with curbside finds, we tied it all together by painting the furniture the same color and adding the same hardware.

I found the light fixture at a thrift store.  All we had to do is clean it and shortened it up to fit the room.  We added a dimmer switch to avoid harsh lighting.  I read where soft lighting reduces the contrast between light and dark, giving baby’s undeveloped eyes a much-needed rest.

Kristin wanted one wall to be a focal wall.  The wallpaper’s Peonies Watercolor Flowers Wall Murals by Murwall.  The company was so helpful when ordering the wallpaper size.  I gave them the measurements and they figured out how much we needed.  It came in sections, which they numbered for us.  There was little to no waste.  It was so easy to install.  I used Roman Heavy Duty Wallpaper Adhesive and a brush to spread it on the back of the wallpaper.  The tools I used

  • a wallpaper smoother
  • a smoother brush
  • box cutter
  • large putty knife.

Kehlani’s name was made by my sweet friend Maureen.  She printed out her name in the font and size we wanted on paper, traced it on wood, cut the name out, sanded and painted it gold. She did an amazing job, didn’t she?  We placed it securely on the wall above the crib.

Keeping the white theme in the room we purchased all white bedding we ordered on Amazon.  The cute rose colored comforter I found at Tuesday Morning, we folded it over the railing.

We were not sure if we were going to use the tall tower cabinet in the room.

What we decided to do was to remove the glass door and a few drawers, change the hardware and use the cabinet as a book shelf.  We didn’t even have to paint it!

The glider and ottoman I had in one of our guest bedrooms.  A nursery needs a rocking chair and it wasn’t being used in our home.

I painted it white and re-upholstered the cushions.

The table was Kristin’s when she was living at home.  We had to revamp this piece as well.

We painted the wood drawer portion, spray painted the iron base and added new hardware.

I shared how I revamp the lamp earlier.  I purchased the lamp many years ago.  Painted it white and gold, purchased a new lamp shade.  It is perfect for the room.

The curtains we found at Old Time Pottery.  The chore of finding the right shade was hard.  We ordered several different curtains and had to send them back.  Finally, one day while I was in Old Time Pottery I found the perfect shade for a great price.

The toy box was also Kristin’s when she was a baby.  We painted it white and re-cushioned the top.

They found this cute little toddler’s bed for Myles, Kehlani’s older brother.  It is so cute!

We also painted Kristin’s dresser and placed it along the wall with a mirror (TjMaxx) and two shelves (Target).  The dresser will be used as the changing table as well as to store all of items needed while changing her.

The last part of the reveal will be the closet.  It was a catch all with all the baby shower gifts and items we put in there to get out of our way while working in the two rooms.

You know me….start from scratch, make it naked! 🙂

Added the book shelf, totes and organized everything.

We needed something to hold all of her hair bows, ribbons and headbands, I remember I had these jewelry wall plaques up in the attic.  We painted them white and Mr. Tip secured them on the wall.  Perfect holders.

The best part of this project was watching the two parents-to-be take in everything decorated, organized and FINISHED!  This is one happy MiMi-to-be! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this Project we have done here.
