DIY DOLLAR TREE EASTER BASKET DECOR

Hello and welcome! If you are new to my blog, so glad you stopped by I am so happy you are here. I love sharing tips and ideas on how you can decorate on a budget.  Today I am sharing a DIY Dollar Tree décor that will be a part of my kitchen table for Easter.

Still trying to decorate with things I have at home.  I purchased 4 little Easter baskets décor pieces a while back.  I am so glad I picked them up back then because I am not going out right now.

If you don’t have the little basket like the one I am using in the tutorial you can easily use a cardboard box or anything for a form.

Here is how I created a cute basket bouquet for my table.

I unwrapped the garland that was on my basket.  I painted the form with Waverly Ivory chalk paint.

I prepared my ribbons to basket weave onto my form.  I am using a 1/2 inch wired ribbon for my basket weaving.  I measured top to bottom of my form which gives me the measurements for the vertical strips.  I measured the width of my form and times that by 2 1/2 to make the horizontal strips.

I cut 5 strips at 4 1/2 inches and cut the strips down the center to form 2 strips from one.  You will have 10 strips at 4 1/2.

I cut 2 strips at 9 inches and cut down the center to form 2 strips at 9 inches.  You will have 4 strips at 9 inches.

Cut a 12 inch strip cutting that down the center.  You will use only use one 12 inch strip.

Taking the ten 4 1/2 inch strips and gluing them to the bottom of your form.

Taking on of the 9 inch strip and glue it to the form horizontally at the bottom of your form.  Preferably glue on a side.

Doing a basket weave with the 4 1/2 inch and the 9 inch ribbons.  With the 9 inch ribbon you will go under and over with the 4 1/2 inch ribbons.

Second 9 inch strip you will do the opposite from the first strip.  You will go over and under with the 4 1/2 inch ribbon. You continue with the other 9 inch strips the same way doing opposites weaving.  The last strip will be the 12 inch strip.  Use that for the last row.  You can cut the excess off or roll it over to the inside of your top with hot glue.

This is what it looks like.  Isn’t it so cute?!

Taking lace ribbon I had on hand wrapping it around the handle.

Taking the same lace ribbon and trimming the top of the basket.

Now to decorate my basket.  Taking flowers I had in hand I tucked them inside my basket.

I took one faux carrot and placed it in the center of my arrangement.

I made four of the basket bouquet for my kitchen tablescape.  I will be sharing my kitchen table on another blog.

I hope you enjoyed this Project we have done here.

  1. Your baskets are super cute, Terrie! I love the bright cheery colors! It’s just what we need right now to put a smile on our faces! Can’t wait to see these adorable baskets in your tablescape!

    1. Thanks Christine. I think so too. My family won’t be with me and my hubby which makes me sad but I still want my house to feel cheery not dreary. Thanks for coming by and visiting me, that means a lot!

    1. Me too Michelle. Although it was a cute little basket I just couldn’t get past the garland. I wanted more of a basket type look. You know we have to get creative now that we have to really shop our home. Have a great weekend my friend. Thank you Michelle.
