BUDGET-FRIENDLY BATH MAKEOVER

Well, I am back refreshing our home, one room at a time, this refresh is in our guest bathroom.  I guess you can say for this refresh “THE POWER OF PAINT!”  Because in this room, I am using A LOT of paint to give it a whole new look.  Are you ready?

As always, the first thing I like to do before any project, gather up my inspiration to create a mood board.

Inspirational Bathrooms

Can you see my dilemma?

I want the feeling of a warm, relaxing bathroom with moody tones, more texture and a little touch of rustic.  That’s the vibe I am going for in our bathroom.  I am really excited to be starting this project.

The Plans

The Vanity

The first thing I want to do is paint the vanity.  Back in 2022 when I gave this bathroom a refresh, I left the vanity in the cream color.

The vanity carries a lot of visual space when entering our bathroom.  Changing the color of the vanity to an earthy tone creates a space that feels warm and relaxing.

For the vanity, I will be doing the same technique as I did for the laundry room cabinets and master bedroom furniture.

The Walls

Painting the walls with a warm neutral color will be another change I will be making.

The bathroom walls will be painted a warmer neutral color, which will give a calming and soothing feel to the space.

The Faucets

We need to replace our bathroom faucets, as you can tell they are tarnished.

Instead of replacing them right now, I am going to try to change them with rub n buff.  I have seen people take rub n buff to refinish fixtures.  So, I am going to give it a whirl, if it doesn’t work, we will replace them.

The Light Fixtures

Replacing the light fixtures isn’t necessary.  Since I like the style of our light fixtures I am going to give them a new look with spray paint.

For the vanity light I want to replace the look of the nickel metal to a two tone, black and gold.  It should be very easy to create, using two colors on the light fixture will tie in the two different metals I will be using in the room.

The Mirror

Let’s talk about my mirror, I love the mirror but after painting the vanity, the color of the mirror will not work.  Maybe painting it black with a little gold highlight will look nice with the black and gold light fixture and the wood tone vanity.

Instead of having the mirror vertical, I will turn it around to hang horizontally.  This will create a striking focal point and add drama and elegance to the bathroom.  It also will give the illusion the space is larger than it really is.

The Floor

Another large painting project will be the floor.  As much as I love the design of the floor, the brown tiles will be the wrong shade of brown and I want to tone down the movement.

I am going to do the same technique on this floor as I did out on the back screened-in porch. With paint and stain.

Painting instead of replacing seems like the least expensive way to give your home a refresh or makeover.  with a little time and effort, this room with have a new look with the cost of paint.

Since I have a lot of things to paint, I best get started!  Keep on following me to see the bathroom reveal in the near future.
