Hello and welcome back to our monthly Pinterest challenge! This is such a great challenge, participating in this challenges is so fun searching through Pinterest for a great DIY project to work on. This month I am going to do not one but two Pinterest inspirations. The first one I just saw the video a few days ago on the DIY and the other one I have been wanting to do I just never have. I get to share two of my inspiration with one project. How fun is this?….for me anyway! 🙂
In case you’re new to Decorate and More with Tip, the purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate you to not just pin, but to make it happen. The challenge is hosted by Erlene My Pinterventures Blog. The theme for March is anything spring, focusing on Easter or gardening. I will link all the participants at the bottom of my page.

PINTEREST INSPIRED FAUX CERAMIC PITCHER DECOR DIY
I saw Araceli Chan DIY on YouTube, she made a pitcher out of Dollar Tree items. I thought it was so neat and I had all the items in my craft closet. To view her video click here. Pier 1 inspired.
Here is my version of a pitcher home decor. This is just a fun decoration not to be used for anything other than show. DO NOT USE FOR A PITCHER OR USE THE HANDLE TO HOLD IT!
The items I used are below.
- Dollar Tree glass cylinder vase
- 1 plastic shower curtain hook
- a lighter
- 1 small plastic plant saucer
- two wooden beads – 2 different sizes
- jute twine
- paint – I am using Ivory chalk paint and navy craft paint
- E6000 and hot glue
- wire snips
- Mod Podge
- 1 patterned napkin
- paint brushes
- Glass object with a flat surface
Preparing the spout and handle.
Making the spout
1. Cut a triangle from the plant saucer with a pair of scissors.
Making sure you leave 1/4 inch of the bottom of the saucer on the triangle.
2. Bend the triangle in half making it look like a spout
Making the handle
1. Snip off the ends of the shower hook where the two connects
2. Stretch the hook out
3. To get a smoother end, burn the ends with a lighter and flatten out on a flat glass surface.
To add the handle and spout to the vase I am using E6000 and hot glue.
Apply E6000 then hot glue to the edge of the plastic cut out spout, attach it to the vase where a spout would be. I used a toothpick to clean off the excess glue.
This is how it should look.
Taking E6000 and hot glue adding it to each end of the shower hook and place it on the vase where the handle should be.
Apply more hot glue around each end of the handle making it a neat circle using a toothpick.
I took a paper towel rubbing off the smudges and glue residue.
Let it dry for several hours. So far…here is the side view. It has a good shape, doesn’t it?
This step is optional. I took Spackle and added it to the crevices of the spout and handle. Let dry for several hours.
Taking a worn out piece of 150 grit sandpaper (the piece that should be thrown away, it worked great for this step). Sand softly.
I painted two coat of Waverly Ivory chalk paint on the entire pitcher, sanding between coats. To create a lip on the spout I loaded the paint brush with paint and wiped it on the edge of the plastic spout. Sanding took away all the paint brush lines.
After the paint dried I decoupage the pitcher with a napkin. Amy over at Leap of Faith Crafting decoupaged a Dollar Tree vase. She gave a great tutorial.
My napkin was a 3-ply. I removed the two layers and cut my pattern out. You could use the whole napkin for a cleaner look, I wanted full leaf patterns.
Brushed the mod podge onto the vase and added the napkin evenly.
Once you have your pattern the way you want, put one good coat of mod podge all over your vase. Let that dry.
I added a navy trim to the top, both sides of the handle and the bottom edge of my pitcher.
Let your mod podge dry. In the meantime I wanted to add a little beaded tassel to my handle. You know I have all those beads from our daughter’s light fixture. I am still grabbing the beads and using them for all sorts of things. I am using two different size beads, twine and paint for this step. I painted the two beads, one navy and one sage green.
Making the little beaded tassel.
- cut a piece of twine 18 inches
- fold the twine and tie a loop knot in the center
- thread the two beads onto the twine, large one first
- add a couple more pieces of twine to make a tassel
- tie the twine together
- wrap the end of one piece of twine using hot glue to keep it secure
- Cut the tassel evenly
Adding it to the handle by slipping the beads through the top loop.
This was a fun project to work on. Not something useful other than displaying. It is a very cute item to place your faux flowers or greenery in. I would recommend not using the handle to pick up your piece. I will display my little pitcher after the holiday on my hutch in the kitchen.
I hope you enjoyed this fun simple Dollar Tree Easter DIY.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
WOW! This is INCREDIBLE! Just the transformation into a pitcher alone. I haven’t had much luck decoupaging napkins in the past, but I would like to give it a try again – especially with seeing it cut into pieces, and put on so perfectly.
Alexandra, thank you! Sometimes when you first do something and it doesn’t turn out I always feel like the second time or third time we learn what NOT to do. ha!
Great tutorial on how to turn a vase into a pitcher. It looks so pretty on your tray for spring.
Thank you Jenny. I just love my little pitcher décor piece. It was so fun to make and see it step by step come together.
Wow, I’m amazed. At first, I thought you used a pitcher and decoupaged over it. I had no idea that you completely made this from scratch!
Thanks Erlene! I just love this challenge. It pushes me to do things that I want to do but put off. I am so happy how both crafts turned out. Thanks for hosting this challenge monthly!
It turned out great! I love seeing the ideas Araceli comes up with on her channel. You did a great job on yours, and I love the napkin you chose!
Cherryl I love watching her do her magic. She has some great inspirational things. Thank you so much!

What a clever transformation! I love the simple color palette and the leaves from your napkin are lovely! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Thank you so much Marci. I love the napkins and can use that even after Spring. Thank you for your sweet comment!
I was expecting a project showing you updating a pitcher from Dollar Tree but not “making” a pitcher from a glass vase. Awesome project and it looks fabulous.
Thanks Donna. This was such a fun project. I love how it turned out. Happy Spring!
Ingenious idea, Terrie! And it looks quite lovely on your table!
Thank you Gail. It is a fun project to do with the Dollar Tree vase. I will be doing more decoupage since that was so easy. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, wow, wow!! At first I thought you decoupaged a pitcher..you actually MADE a pitcher. Looks amazing!
I know….I just had so much fun working on the challenge. I will be styling the picture in my hutch after the Easter decorations are put away.
This looks so amazing! Great job, Terrie
Thank you Jodi. It was a fun craft and will be a cute decor piece to display. Happy Wednesday. Stay safe and healthy my friend!
This is so creative and so pretty!! I never would have thought to make a pitcher like that. I love it! Pinning!
It is so fun to make, not something useful but so cute. Glad you like it.
Your pitcher turned out really pretty!
Thank you so much Roseann. It was such a fun project.
What a great hack! I would never have thought that wasn’t a real pitcher. Pinned.
Thank you. It is a very cute decor piece. It isn’t something I would use but it will look perfect sitting on my hutch.
Terrie, you are soooo talented!! This is amazing!! Seriously amazing! Love it!
~Emily
Thanks Emily. I had fun with this craft. Thanks for stopping by!
Girl, when you do a DIY project you definitely put your heart and soul and creative thinking cap on!! WOW! I never would have thought about creating a pitcher out of a glass vase! And I just LOVE the texture you added with those napkins and beads! Thanks for inspiration!!
Well you know I have to be unique! Isn’t it such a neat craft project? It was so fun to make, after I figured what I wanted to do with it. Love how it looks. Might not be practical but it does meet the code for home decor!
Very creative and pretty project. I would love to think about trying this with an official pitcher that doesn’t fit in with my decor anymore. You know I’m about repurposing.
Cindy
Cindy it would be a very good project to do on an old item you have. Put your own spin on it and go with it. I would love to see how yours turns out. Happy Tuesday!
