REVAMPING DOLLAR TREE PUMPKINS WITH CHALK PAINT

Hello friends!

I have some really cute ways to dress up the Dollar Tree pumpkins.  Today I will be using chalk paint, gold leaf and a stick from our yard.

Here is what I will be using.

  • white chalk paint
  • metallic gold craft paint
  • hot glue and glue gun
  • a quarter size stick
  • clean cloth
  • Dollar Tree pumpkin
  • gold leaf sheet
  • mod podge

Let’s get started!

I removed the stem from the pumpkins and painted 3 coats of white chalk paint to the pumpkins.  Let dry.

Taking my metallic gold craft paint adding it with a brush to the crevices of the pumpkin wiping it off before it dries completely.

Taking my Minwax finishing wax, sealing the pumpkins.

Making the stems for my pumpkins.

I cut the branch to the size I wanted my stems to be.  Took my hot glue gun and made a line of glue twirling around the twig.

Painted the twig brown and then using gold leaf coating the piece of branch.

I punched a whole in the top of my pumpkin where I removed the stem I added some hot glue and stuck the piece inside the pumpkin.  Hot glue securely.

Thank you for stopping!  I can’t wait to show you how I styled the pumpkins!

  1. I just made these. I was wondering what the pile is below the stem is on the pumpkin itself? You have it painted gold. Is that just glue? They are so cute! Thanks for all of your cute inexpensive ideas!

    1. Sharon, so happy you made yourself some of those pumpkins. Yes. I applied a puddle of glue to make a base type stem. I painted the hot glue gold along with the stems. I would love to see your pumpkins. Thank you for commenting.

  2. Very pretty. Nice idea to change up the pumpkins. I enjoy looking at your blogs daily. Keep them coming !!!

Hope Amanda does well with her surgery. Been keeping her and the family in my prayers. Terrible news but God is good !! Love you !!

  3. Love these!! Such a creative way to make the stems! I would have never thought to use hot glue…so clever!!! Definitely making these!

    1. After looking at the stems you buy I notice they all have ridges. I thought the glue would make ridges on the stem. It looks better than a plain stick for a stem. My opinion anyway. Thank you for visiting me here!
