I’ve shared how I style my hutch in previous blog post, but still I have had conversations about how hard it is to style kitchen hutches.
To view my previous hutch styling blog post you can read HUTCH STYLING.
Today, I am sharing how I used the same steps to refresh my hutch.
Gathering your items for styling
Your Favorite Collection
Almost everyone collects something, what better way to showcase your collection then turning them into home decor pieces. Keep in mind, the hutch decor should tie into the room.
Color
Pick out a color you want to add to your hutch, one mistake I did in the past, adding too much color and not enough neutrals. So, gather up more neutral items and spread the color throughout the shelves.
Large items
To keep the shelves from being cluttered, adding larger items along with smaller items helps keep the shelves balanced.
Greenery
The best way to enhance your hutch, add greenery. Adding greenery instantly livens up the space and adds warmth and texture, as well.
The Arrangement
Here are some steps I take when styling my hutch.
- Placed the anchor pieces to each shelf. Normally, the larger items are the focal pieces that glue each vignette together. Spread out your anchor pieces to keep the eye moving from top to bottom.
- Bring in color, spread the color throughout the shelves, spacing them differently from shelf to shelf. It’s best not to overpower the hutch with color.
- Adding greenery is my favorite, it softens the space. If the containers of your plants don’t fit the color theme, use a bowl, pitcher or another type of container that you already placed on the hutch. As you can see below, to add character I placed my plants in the dishes.
I hope these few tips will help you feel more comfortable when styling your hutch.
