It’s time to decorate the dining room for Easter.  Tammy Patina and Paint will be joining me, we are going to make something to use on our Easter tablescape.  I will have Tammy’s craft linked at the bottom of my page.

For my table I am using three table runners.  I am using an old tablecloth to make the runners.

Learn how to make three table runners out of an oblong tablecloth in just a few simple steps. No pattern needed, here’s how.

How to make 3 table runners out of one oblong tablecloth.

Let’s get started!

Here’s what you need:

  • oblong tablecloth
  • sewing machine
  • pins
  • scissors
  • thread

Instructions:

Step 1:

Fold the tablecloth in three sections.

Step 2:

Cut along the folded edge of the first and second layer to form three equal sections.

Step 3:

Measure all three sections the width you want.  I am cutting the width of mine to 20 ½ inches.

Step 4:

Fold over the cut edge over twice to create a hem.

Last step:

Sew a basic stitch.

Do the above steps to the other two sections, press your runners and that’s it!

I know you will love yours as much as I love mine already.

Make sure you check out Tammy’s craft she is making for her dining room table.

  1. Terrie this is such a great idea. I can’t tell you how many tablecloths I gave away when we downsized due to the fact that I had a smaller table. This would work no matter the size of the tablecloth or table. Great idea that I will definitely be using!

    1. Yes, you can make napkins with the left over material if you wanted. I do love my tablecloth but couldn’t use it, now I can. Happy I gave you an idea for your next tablecloth before you give it away!
