THRIFT STORE CANDLE STICKS MAKEOVER

Hey y’all!  Finally getting time to go through my thrift store items when I was visiting with my mamma on Memorial Day weekend.  See the set of candle sticks poking out of the basket?  I will be working on those today.

I found these babies for $4.99.  They are metal and in really great shape.  Didn’t know at the time what I will be using them for, but knew I just HAD to have them. 🙂 You know things you think you just have to have and then get home and say WHY?   I know what I am going to do with them now.

Let’s get started!

  • First I cleaned up the candle sticks
  • Painted the candle sticks with white chalk paint

  • Gave them 2 coats of chalk paint
  • Took a 150 grit sand block and distressed them both

  • Used finishing wax and applied it on the candle sticks

That’s it!  What do you think of my $4.99 candle sticks?

I am staging them here for you today, but I’ll be sharing how I’ll showcase them next Friday when I share with you the revealing of the room area challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will come back tomorrow when I share my Father’s Day tablescape!

Stay strong and stay blessed!

XO  Terrie

  1. You are so talented! You’ve got me looking at objects in my home that are very cute , like a wooden milking stool reproduction. But it’s in that grayish brown that is supposed to look cute. Well, I have too much of that stuff and it’s beginning to look like too much wood in my home! I prefer old wood that is sanded down to reveal the wood with no stain or paint.
But the stool and a really pretty wooden birdhouse chalet I’m going to paint!
I’m going to use milk paint so I get the natural chippy/crackle look. Maybe some wax to accent the spindles and finials.
Have you ever followed missmustardseed.com? She has a full repertoire of tutorials to help beginners like me, with painting.
Your candlesticks look pretty and who would know that underneath they are that outdated Tuscan style?!
    Good job Terri

    1. Thank you so much Beth! I haven’t heard of missmustardseed.com I will go check that out. thanks! I have never used milk paint! I just started with chalk paint. Is milk paint a DIY recipe paint or can you buy it? I am excited to see your milking stool. You will have to show me some time that. I know….the candlesticks are away different style decor than I would of placed in my home but painted white anything goes! ha! BTW! we got our misters. Waiting for a weekend to install them. YAY!

    1. Thank you so much Jan! It is truly remarkable what paint can do. Thank you for being so kind and loving! You are my biggest fan! 🙂
