Hey there! Welcome back to this month’s Top Shelf Clearance Challenge. Organization is what we are looking for on the clearance shelves. I am teaming up with 2 sweet friends, Tara over at Stilettosandshiplap and Emily from LeCultivateur with our monthly challenge to find a $15 clearance item or items. We invite 2 new blogging friends to join the fun each month. Meet Cate over at West Magnolia Charm and Debby from Debby Goes Shabby they are our guests this month. This edition will be all about Organization. If you missed our past Top Shelf Clearance challenges you can catch up {{HERE}}.

I normally have my cabinets organized, since it is just my husband and myself it shouldn’t be messed up. WRONG!!!! I am going to show you our catch all cabinet in the laundry room. This cabinet is where we store our cleaning cloths, car shop towels, batteries and miscellaneous items. I am not proud of how it looks, but y’all need to see that I am not always picture perfect, far from it. 🙂
I want to say SORRY in advance the lighting in this room is terrible. 🙁
I try to keep the towels folded and the top shelf straightened….but this is what it looks like most of the time.
What a better time to work on this cabinet then now during this challenge. I took some measurements of the cabinet’s shelves so I can look for some organization containers. I found two baskets at TjMaxx. They were just sitting on the clearance shelf screaming, pick me! I was hoping for two of the larger baskets but I think the two I found will work perfectly.
The two baskets cost me $10.88. I was under the $15 amount in this challenge.
Here is my Top Shelf Clearance Challenge. Let’s get started organizing!
What I like to do is remove everything. Even this DIYer doesn’t need this many cleaning cloths. I need to take this time and purge! I won’t throw them away I will take them to our daughter’s townhouse to use there. Because believe me when I say….we need them over there. 🙂
After purging.
I decided to reline my cabinet shelves. I removed the old and cleaned the inside of the cabinets.
I bought some {{SHELF LINER}} from Dollar Tree to cover the cabinet shelves.
I liked my three battery containers and the button vase that I had on the top shelf. I used my label maker to label each container on what batteries are placed inside. I added one of my clearance basket. In this basket I added all my travel sewing kits and yard sale stickers.
The battery {{Plastic Storage Boxes with Clip-Lock Lids}} I found last year at the Dollar Tree.
The {{Fluted Glass Ivy Bowl}} I use for my buttons I found several years ago at Dollar Tree also.
On the bottom shelf I placed the larger basket and added all my cleaning cloths inside. I placed my Longaberger basket along the side of it.
I put all my thumb tacks and push pins inside for safe keeping in the Longaberger basket.
I like to roll up my cleaning towels but the t-shirts and my old knitted dish clothes I just folded.
Now my cabinet is well organized. I like the look and it might just stay this way….for a little while. 🙂
I wanted to share with you my cabinet using Dollar Tree {{Blue Plastic Slotted Baskets}}.
Remember what my cabinet looked like before?

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Cute containers and baskets! I do the same thing with my cabinets! Some how they get unorganized again . . . great motivation Terrie! 🙂
Terrie, your laundry room cabinet looks amazing!! I love a good organized cabinet! This has inspired me to get my laundry room organized!
~Emily
I love a good organization before and after! Great job! There’s just something about putting things in containers that I can’t get enough of! Well done!
Thank you Laura. You have me motivated from your last year organization blog. I pinned that and remembered to look that up. That was a very good blog you wrote.
Terrie you did a great job! There is nothing more satisfying then a freshly organized space.
Cate I had so much fun working on this challenge with you. I love clearance shopping and organizing my home. You are so right, nothing is more satisfying then our home clean and organized.
