VANITY STOOL UPDATE

Hey there!  Happy Monday.  It’s time for our Top Shelf Clearance Challenge!! We love shopping the clearance shelves and sharing how we style it in our homes.  To see my past clearance challenges you can check them out by clicking ⇒ MY TOP SHELF CLEARANCE CHALLENGE.

This month I am teaming up with 5 awesome clearance shoppers. I will link all my friend’s blogs at the bottom of my page.  I want to thank Tara, Stilettos and Shiplap and Emily, LeCultivateur for hosting this month.

Actually, I wasn’t shopping for my clearance item the day I went into Hobby Lobby.  I went in there the other day for material for my vanity stool.  You know I go right to the clearance area, but really didn’t find any that I liked on clearance so I went to the regular priced upholstery fabric.  The one I picked was $24.99 a yard.  It was 30% off and I only needed 1/2 yard, so I decided to buy the one I like 🙂  When I went up to the counter to have the lady cut the fabric, she told me there was a remnant piece marked down.  It was marked $3.00 but no measurements written on it.  I had her measure it to make sure I would have plenty to work with.  There was a large snag in the fabric and was a little shy of being  1/2 of a yard.  Even with the snag it would be the right size to recover my cushion so I decided to buy the remnant.

I cut around the snag part and had just enough to cover my cushion.  I have shared my tutoirals on how I upholster cushions.  If you missed my tutorials you can go see how ⇒ REFRESH MY BAR STOOLS  and QUICK DIY MAKEOVER.

I didn’t have enough fabric to cover the back of my cushion so I took a piece of drop cloth and attached to the back of my cushion for a more finished look.

I made sure that I centered the pattern on the top of my cushion.

Do you remember how my vanity stool looked like before?

I gave it a little update.  I took the cushion and stripped the old fabric off.  I had 4 layers to remove.

After I finished the cushion I turned to the wood base.  I sanded and primed the wood to be painted.

I first painted it Dove by Benjamin Moore.

BUT…..it didn’t do anything for the clearance fabric.  So, I painted it Wind Chime by Kilz Tribute.  I had the paint left over when I painted our front door.  If you missed my Before and After of our front door you can check that out ⇒ FRONT DOOR.

I attached the cushion back onto the base.

I can’t wait to place my updated vanity stool in our Master bathroom.  I am loving the new look and only $3.00 !!  How great is that ??!!
