Hey there, welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  I share budget friendly decorations by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂  If you are coming over from Liberty, B4 & Afters, so happy you stopped by.  Don’t you just love how Liberty styled her TV and built-ins?   Very inspiring!

If you have been following my blog you know that the first Wednesday of the month I host a DIY Challenge. I gathered a group of bloggers who loves creating budget friendly home décor like me. 🙂  For May’s challenge, I had one of my readers request to share some ideas on decorating around a TV.   I asked my friends if they would want to share some inspiration and of course they did!  We are going to share how we keep the big black rectangular box from sticking out like a sore thumb.   You can find links to each of their blogs at the end of my post.

Are you one who has trouble decorating around the large flat screen that sits in your home?  How can we make it look more attractive?  Number one decorating question ever!

Mr. Tip doesn’t have much say on the decorating that goes on around our home, but one thing he is very stern with and that would be the television.  He wants to watch it without any of my “stuff ” in his view.

For many years I did nothing to the big ugly monster, I added a vase to the console, but that’s about it.

Back in July I shared a blog post on how I decorated the corner where our television sits.  It was a hodge podge of items.  To view the blog post click on the title here ⇒ HOW TO DECORATE A WALL ABOVE A CORNER TV.

Many people have larger consoles or a smaller television to decorate their console with the size of our television it doesn’t leave me much room.

I do have a little bit of room to place two candle holders on one side and a succulent on the other.  We keep the front of the TV clear due to the remote sensor and sound bar.  I wish we could hide those ugly electronic boxes.  If we could I would, but they also have sensors that needs to be exposed.  We should remove the DVR/VCR because we hardly ever use it.

To decorate my television area the only available space would be the wall above the TV.  Here is how I have our area decorated now.

I picked up the large tobacco basket in Kirkland’s on the clearance shelf back in June of last year it was in the closet all this time.  I grabbed my other oblong basket and our nest sign to add on the wall.  I added a frame inside the larger basket, you know I love to layer!

It still needed something.  I added my DIY Lamb’s ear and lavender wreath to add to the oblong basket.  I placed my DIY tobacco basket with a wooden initial attaching it to the center and another little wording sign to fill in the small space.

To go view the tutorial of both DIY basket and wreath you can click ⇒ DIY FAUX TOBACCO BASKET and DIY LAMB’S EAR AND LAVENDAR WREATH.

As you can see I was able to decorate the area and I kept the viewing area clear for Mr. Tip. It’s a win-win! 🙂

Next up is Cindy over at Cloches and Lavender, she is going to share how she decorated her TV up on her mantel.

I hope you enjoy all the inspiration we shared today on decorating around your Television.

    1. Hey there girl! So happy to see you here!! Decorating is a little hard with those big boy toys. I love the challenge. Would love for you to join in when you can!

    1. We do love the ceiling. The contractor who build our home loved putting them in. They are called tri-ceilings. We have one in our master bedroom as well. I would love to change up our ceiling fan to a light fixture but living in the South it is a good to keep the air circulating.

  3. It’s all beautiful Terrie. I love the baskets and how your mantle is styled. Thank you so much for hosting this and including me ❤️

  4. Your home looks so lovely, Terrie! I love how you decorated around that “BIG” TV! Nothing too distracting for the ‘boys’ but so pretty for us gals! Your living space looks so cozy too! Great job with the challenge! I’m off to see more!

    1. Thank you Christine. It’s always a work trying to decorate the ugly monster. I still want to find something more simple on the wall. This will work for now since I love baskets. You are so sweet, thanks!

  5. Terrie I love those baskets! You are so right, decorating around the TV is really one of the hardest areas to decorate. You’ve done an amazing job. I may need a few baskets…

    1. Tammy, I love baskets of any type, style or shape. Thank you sweet friend. I love how you styled yours with the plates. I am pinning yours for inspiration! Thanks for joining the challenge.
