Shopping the clearance sections is one of favorite thing to do.  It’s not only fun, but it is a way I can still decorate my home and save money.  You never know what you will find.  Most of my clearance items I strip down and makeover, I just love finding something that I can give my own spin to.

For this challenge I went all over looking, I didn’t want to buy something to just buy it.  The last store I went into was Hobby Lobby.  When I went over to the clearance area I saw a couple frames on the floor, but that round mirror caught my eye.

Here is the price I paid for the mirror.  Even though the mirror is cracked the frame itself is worth the price, so I picked it up and paid for it.

Along with the mirror I picked up a flower wall décor and a decorative knob.  Both were 50% off.

When I remove the back I hope I can remove the mirror without damaging the back board.  Won’t know until I remove the back, right?

I am in luck, it came right off of the back panel. 🙂

Now that I can use the back panel  I am going to do a design with hot glue, the flower and the knob.  Now…stay with me until the end.  It’s going to take some imagination, I have a plan in mind. 🙂

Drawing a line around the frame will give me a template.  I don’t want my design to go near the frame.

Finding the center I drew around the flower art.

I free-hand a larger flower.

I applied a thick amount of hot glue to the outer flower lines.  I went over the line a couple times.

Once the glue harden and cooled I removed all the glue webs.

I drilled a hole in the center.

I painted the whole thing with Edgecomb Grey by Benjamin Moore.  It’s the color of our bedroom furniture.

I put the knob through the flower and attached it to the back panel.

Attached the frame to the panel.

It looks real nice on the wall in our Master bedroom.

I am loving this look.  What do you think?  Would you have passed the mirror up?

  1. Great project. Although I am better at thinking outside the box now, I never would l have thought of that! I have two boxes of picture frames waiting for the “right” picture! When my daughter was 3 (now 37), she could identify the yellow and black clearance signs at Sears. “There’s your sign, Mama.” Until something is 50, preferable 70% off, it’s not a bargain! Now retired, clearance shopping is the only way I can do all that I want to do for crafting! I tend to buy “off season”, like buying leftover Christmas in February!

    1. Kathy you need to get those frames down and use them. I love clearance, thrifting and looking for things on sale. It’s a fun challenge to do. It’s a great time to buy things after season. Great way to find things cheap!

    1. Thanks Dori. I always look passed the broken places if I know it can be salvageable. One thing about this monthly challenge it makes me look a little harder. ha!

    1. Thank you so much Pam. I just kind of went with it step by step. I love how it turned out. I had a plan A and a B glad plan A worked. ha!

    1. Thanks Jodi! I am so happy things worked the way I wanted it to. love clearance shop and finding things to make work in my home. Love working with you on this challenge.

  2. Great job for a great price, Terrie! I would have definitely grabbed that mirror up and done something with it as well since the frame alone was well worth the price. Looks great in your master. Thanks so much for joining us this month!

    1. Thanks Tara! The mirror was a great find at a great price. I had several plans in case my Plan A didn’t work out. So happy that it did.

    1. The mirror itself was worth the price. Once I saw the back I knew the mirror could be removed with no problem, it was just the mirror coming off the back panel. I had plan A and a plan B…so happy that plan A worked. Thanks for stopping by.
