ACCENT WALL – CRAFT ROOM WEEK 3

Welcome back to the Craft Room Refresh Project, friends! We’re on Week 3, working on the paint station area!  For those of you just catching up or stopping by for the first time, I am giving my craft room a much-needed refresh.  To see all the previous work I have done in the room you can catch up here:

I’m excited to be moving on to this space, I can’t wait to see how this wall will look after I apply wallpaper to it!

I’ve been anxiously waiting since I put the design board together for this space.

A couple weeks ago, I saw two Instagram posts styling this peel and stick wallpaper, I fell in love with the pattern and color, however at that time I had no thoughts about using it in the craft room.  Only when I decided to paint the furniture, I wanted to add that wallpaper to the craft room!

To start wallpaper, I needed to get a level line to start the first row.  Having a level line for a guide is a major key when hanging wallpaper.

The waiting game isn’t fun when you have to stop right in the middle of a project!  I somehow miscalculated, however I could piece the last strip, but I decided to order another row.

While waiting for the wallpaper I started on the storage cabinet.  I painted it black with Rust-oleum home paint I purchased in Ollie’s.

This cabinet was a DIY, I built it out of an old pull-down attic ladder and a thrift store shelving unit.  To view how I made this, click here PAINT CABINET.

The first coat looks bad, but after 2 more coats it looks so pretty in black up against the wallpaper.

Won’t the wall look great for the backdrop of all my videos?  I think so!

Moving onto the wall decor, painting my wall flower organizer with Rust-oleum ivory spray paint.

To see the tutorial on how I made the wall flower, you can view that here WALL FLOWER ORGANIZER.

As much as I liked the blue and green, the ivory will pop up on the wallpaper wall.

Wait!  I’m not done yet, for the center, I spray painted with it with Rust-oleum metallic gold spray paint.

Oh my, what do you think?  I love it!

Turning to the shelves now, I ordered two more shelves for the wall.  I was out of room before.

I spray painted the shelving units Rust-oleum flat black spray paint.

I staggered three shelves on each side of the flower, painting them black kept the shelves from out shining my wall flower.

The last thing I worked on, was finding baskets to replace the fabric storage bins.

I went to several stores to find the size of basket I need to fit on the shelves, the problem I have, the cabinet is only 11 inches in depth.  Which makes it hard to find the proper size baskets.

A couple options I am considering, I found this set of baskets in Beall’s outlet, not exactly what I was thinking but they could work.  Also, Amazon has a set of 4 baskets that would work.

As much as I like the cost of these baskets, I am still pondering the thought of purchasing the set off of Amazon.

I’d love to hear what you think of the progress I have made this week.

What’s your favorite part of the room so far?  I am personally loving the wallpaper, but the new color of the furniture has me torn on which one is my favorite, wallpaper or furniture.  Happy weekend, friends! See you back here next week!
