BEFORE & AFTER- GOLD AND WHITE BATHROOM – DIY MAKEOVER

Hey there!  Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip!  If you are new here I am happy you came to visit.  I hope you will keep on coming back. 🙂  Let me give my new viewers a recap of what this post is all about.  My daughter purchased a home two years ago and like most of us we have a budget that doesn’t allow us to get everything the way we want….unless you are willing to do some DIYs.  We rolled up our sleeves and slowly we are getting her new home the way she wants.  My hubby and son-in-law has agreed to sweat right along with us.  Her home isn’t in bad shape just outdated.

I want to share the finished bathroom adjoining the soon to be nursery. Take a look at what the room looked like before we started.  To look at the beginning project you can go view that here →NURSERY/BATHROOM PROJECT.

We painted the cabinet with Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, replaced the handles with Goldenwarm Brushed Brass Cabinet Handles Drawer Pulls.

We replaced the counter top with a Swanstone Vanity Top.  Changing out the faucet as well with a Trustmi Brass Bathroom Sink Faucet.

We changed the light fixture from the long silver round bulb fixture to this beautiful brass and white Progress light fixture. We also replaced the white rectangular framed mirror with this beautiful circle gold frame mirror she found at Home Goods.

Next was the flooring.  She fell in love with the Calacatta Gold 12 x 24 Porcelain Floor Tile at Lowe’s.  I am pretty proud of the flooring, Mr. Tip cut all the tiles, afterwards he had some back issues so I laid all the tiles all by myself and came back the next weekend and grouted.  It isn’t perfect, but for my very first time doing it without Mr. Tip’s help I did a pretty good job. 🙂

We also changed out the register vent to a white vent.

We changed out the chrome shower and tub fixtures to brass and spray painted the shower caddy with metallic gold spray paint.

I placed the shower curtain as high as we can to create the look of a taller ceiling.  We used a 92″ WHITE SHOWER CURTAIN with gold SHOWER RINGS and SHOWER ROD.  All three were found on Amazon.

The PINE FLOATING SHELF was purchased from Target and the gold wording in the frame was a DIY.  My daughter and son-in-law picked out the verse, we used my cricut to cut out the wording.  It turned out so cute.  The frame was purchased from Walmart.  The COTTON AND SWAB CONTAINERS were purchased on Amazon.

On the vanity we placed two SOAP DISPENSERS purchased on Amazon, one for soap and one for lotion.  Next to the dispensers we placed a green small faux plant and on the other side you can see the DIY gold and white vase.  I spray painted the same way I spray painted the baby shower vases.  I placed three faux hydrangeas inside.

We are so happy this room is FINALLY finished.  Onto the nursery.  It will be such a fun room to work on.

One last look at the before and after.

  3. Terrie,

Great job and your first tiling project looks great! The tile is pretty. I do the same with our shower curtain in our other bathroom eventhough our ceilings are 9′.

All the extra touches add a super finishing touch.
