Hey there!  Pretty soon some of us will be thinking about how we are going to set our table for Thanksgiving dinner.  Even though I am not hosting a dinner party this Thanksgiving, I still wanted to share a simple Thanksgiving tablescape.  I am joining 13 fabulous girls who are sharing their simple tables with you as well.  It’s time for our Pinterest Inspiration Challenge hosted by Cindy,  County Road 409. This month’s inspiration photo is from Lindsey over at Lindsey Brunk.   Her table is beautiful.  I love how she set her table.  Click on the picture or her blog’s name above to head over to see what the whole table looks like.

I had this thought I wanted to do with napkins and Modge Podge.  I purchased the napkins and dishwasher safe Modge Podge to get started with my DIY.  I cut the napkins out and place it underneath a Dollar Tree clear glass plates before glueing.  Glad I waited….

I just didn’t like the look so I started back at square one.  I took a look in my storage tub where I kept the pumpkins I didn’t use this year.  I pulled out 6 of my gold Dollar Tree pumpkins to use, after I gave them a new color….You knew that was coming, right?

I decided to take the gold pumpkins and change them to look like they are mercury glass pumpkins.

Supplies you will need.

• Looking glass spray paint – silver
• spray bottle with water
• 6 gold glass pumpkins from Dollar Tree (couldn’t find them online)

Here is how I turned my Dollar Tree gold pumpkins to mercury glass pumpkins.

• I cleaned the pumpkins well and placed them on something to raise them off the tarp.

• Taking my spray bottle filled with tap water, I mist over the pumpkin.

• Spraying a light coat of the Looking Glass paint evenly on the pumpkin.

After painting you will still have water drops on the pumpkin.

• Taking a paper towel and dabbed to pop the air bubbles.

I did the same thing to the other 5 pumpkins.  Letting them dry. They  turned out so good.  Looks like the mercury glass pumpkins I purchased, don’t you think?

While they were drying I took my napkins to fold into a dress napkin fold.

Here is the steps on how I folded the napkins.

1. Fold your napkin in half
2. Fold your napkin in a fan fold.  Folding back and forth until it is completely folded
3. Fold your folded napkin in half
4. Place your napkin ring onto your napkin
5. Fan out the napkin
6. Open up the loop

 

To complete the look of Lindsey’s inspirational place setting adding a little note card to the place setting.  How I created an inexpensive card I searched Google for my favorite three little words. I found the pattern I liked, I copied and pasted in a Word document and printed 6 off.  I traced around the saying with a metal leaf that I had, cutting it out and placing it on the pumpkin with a string.

1. Print off the saying
2. Cut your saying out
3. Using a hole punch to create a hole to thread a piece of string
4. Tie around the stem of the pumpkin

I placed the pumpkin inside the loop part of my napkin.

Now to add the stemware and flatware to the table.

I didn’t change the centerpiece  I shared with y’all on an earlier blog this season ⇒ FALL DINING TABLE CENTERPIECE.  I just added the place settings to complete my table.
