Welcome to the May Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by Erlene, My Pinterventures. Pinterest is a great place for all of us to go and check out home decor, recipes, DIYs, crafts and so much more. Today I am in a group of talented bloggers sharing our version of some inspiration we found on Pinterest. To view my previous Pinterest challenges you can catch up PINTEREST CHALLENGES. For my Pinterest inspiration this month I wanted something for my shelf under the mirror in our kitchen. If you haven’t see that DIY Mirror wall decor you can go DIY MIRROR SHELF. I found the perfect little decor piece for the shelf. The pin I found on Pinterest was from a floral shop called Farmhouse Florals. You can go check out the site HERE.

Here are the items I used to make my version of the Lavender Farmhouse Arrangement.
- 1 tall can (I am using an empty can of Bush’s beans)
- 2 bundles of Wal-mart lavender picks
- black gingham wired ribbon
- paint (grey, white, brown and hazelnut)
- floral wire
- floral foam
- scissors
- a pair of snips
- paint brush
My tutorial on how I made the arrangement.
- The Bush’s bean can is the perfect size for the container. I am not wasteful, I will fix the beans for dinner tonight. 🙂 I removed the label and washed the can well. I used the snips to bend any sharp edges down into the inside of the can.
Taking Krylon Deep Gray spray paint and painting the can.
- Once that dried I took out my TRUFFLE and HAZELNUT chalk paint and painted the rim at the top of the can.
- Once the rim paint dried I applied a good coat of WHITE chalk paint to the can.
- I took a lightly damp paper towel and gently rubbed the ridges of the can to wipe the white off. After I wiped off the ridges I still wasn’t happy with how it looked so I apply more gray & white chalk paint to the ridges with a thin tip brush. As you can tell I didn’t make the lines straight on purpose.
- I took some FLORAL FOAM to add inside of my can.
- Cutting the foam in a circle, smaller than the can.
- Taking the two bundles of LAVENDER and cutting each stem off the bundle.
- Sticking the stems into the foam.
- For the ribbon, I am using a piece of Black GINGHAM CHECK WIRED RIBBON I had on hand.
- I made a bow placing it on the side of the floral arrangement. To make a bow like the one I made below, you can check out my tutorial HERE.
I had all the items on hand so this cost me zero dollars. I am loving how this turned out.
