DIY ROPE WRAPPED CHANDELIER MAKEOVER – PINTEREST CHALLENGE

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by Erlene, My Pinterventures.  Pinterest is a great place for all of us to go and check out home decor, recipes, DIYs, crafts and so much more.  Today I am in a group of talented bloggers sharing our version of some inspiration we found on Pinterest.  I would love for you to follow my Pinterest pins – HERE!🙂

I am sharing with you today a light fixture that we removed from my daughter’s kitchen.  If you have been following me for awhile you know that I hate to throw anything away.

I search Pinterest for inspiration on how others might of revamp a light fixture like this.  I came across several pins.  The inspiration pin I will be using is from Lauren of Bless’er House.[click to see the pin]  She took a light fixture and wrapped it with rope.   I like how that looks and am going to do the same thing.  First, I have to change the arms from facing down to up.

Taking the lamp apart and turning the arms around.  It actually wasn’t that hard it just took some thinking. 🙂

Now that I got the arms turned up, it’s time to wrap the fixture with rope.

I grabbed 4 packages of Nautical Rope from the Dollar Tree and my hot glue gun, a lot of hot glue sticks and started wrapping.

I started at the top and brought strands to each arm end.

To hide the rough ends of the rope I wrapped the top over the edges of the ropes.

I did the same thing to the globe holder.

I didn’t want the white of the light bulb adapter to show so I took some Jute Twine from Dollar Tree and wrapped that also. (I removed the twine because I am not too sure this part gets hot or not, better safe than sorry).

Taking more rope and wrapping the middle base and the arms of the light fixture.  Gluing often.

It did take some time to wrap the fixture but doesn’t it look great?

We will place the light fixture back in my daughter’s home, but in the laundry room closet.  I will share how the light fixture looks in her laundry closet when we do that space’s makeover. 🙂
