DIY ROPE WRAPPED CHANDELIER MAKEOVER – PINTEREST CHALLENGE

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by Erlene, My Pinterventures.  Pinterest is a great place for all of us to go and check out home decor, recipes, DIYs, crafts and so much more.  Today I am in a group of talented bloggers sharing our version of some inspiration we found on Pinterest.  I would love for you to follow my Pinterest pins – HERE!🙂

I am sharing with you today a light fixture that we removed from my daughter’s kitchen.  If you have been following me for awhile you know that I hate to throw anything away.

I search Pinterest for inspiration on how others might of revamp a light fixture like this.  I came across several pins.  The inspiration pin I will be using is from Lauren of Bless’er House.[click to see the pin]  She took a light fixture and wrapped it with rope.   I like how that looks and am going to do the same thing.  First, I have to change the arms from facing down to up.

Taking the lamp apart and turning the arms around.  It actually wasn’t that hard it just took some thinking. 🙂

Now that I got the arms turned up, it’s time to wrap the fixture with rope.

I grabbed 4 packages of Nautical Rope from the Dollar Tree and my hot glue gun, a lot of hot glue sticks and started wrapping.

I started at the top and brought strands to each arm end.

To hide the rough ends of the rope I wrapped the top over the edges of the ropes.

I did the same thing to the globe holder.

I didn’t want the white of the light bulb adapter to show so I took some Jute Twine from Dollar Tree and wrapped that also. (I removed the twine because I am not too sure this part gets hot or not, better safe than sorry).

Taking more rope and wrapping the middle base and the arms of the light fixture.  Gluing often.

It did take some time to wrap the fixture but doesn’t it look great?

We will place the light fixture back in my daughter’s home, but in the laundry room closet.  I will share how the light fixture looks in her laundry closet when we do that space’s makeover. 🙂

  1. Looks great! I have an old chandelier in our shed similar to what you started with. Hubby wants to get rid of it but I keep making him keep it because I know I can do something with it! Now I know what! This would be great at our beach house… of course, I don’t exactly have my own beach house yet… Pinning for when I do!

    1. thanks Emily. We will be putting that in my daughter’s laundry room closet. I have a beach house on my bucket list. ha! I love the beach!

    1. Thank you Roseann! It will fit more with the room it will be placed in. I love how just changing the arms around and wrapping the rope gave the lamp a more updated style. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Terrie, we are like minded. I hate throwing anything out because I think I just might be able to do something with it later. Becomes a storage challenge that’s for sure. I can’t believe this is the same fixture. Flipping the arms was brilliant. When I read you wrapped the sockets with twine I was wondering about heat and then you noted you changed that. But I liked it with…darn. Bet it will look great in your daughter’s laundry room.

    1. I was told I can purhase faux candle holders that fit over the sockets. Not too sure if they come in the size I need but that would work perfectly.

Thanks for stopping over. I enjoy all of the blogs in this challenge.

    1. Thanks Kristie, It turned out great and will work out nicely in my daughter’s laundry room. She just moved into her home and is needing to update a lot of the home. Using what we have and making it work saves on the budget.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thank you Maria. It was time consuming but turned out so pretty. It is going to look nice hanging up in her laundry room. Have a great day!

    1. T’onna, Thanks for the sweet comment. I have seen many spray painted, add jewels and this DIY of adding rope. I love the rustic vibe it brings and my daughter having a budget this will work perfect in her laundry room.

    1. Thank you Cherryl. You are so sweet in pinning my blog and for visiting me. I hope you find a fixture and a place to put it soon. Have a beautiful Spring!

  3. I like how you changed the arms from down to up. With that change and the rope, it looks like a different fixture completely. So nice to do updates on a budget like this and get a wow look in the process!

    1. Thank you Shirley! The arms to make it look right had to be changed around. So happy that we could use the fixture since she had it. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks Lydia. Yes, better safe than sorry. After I got the fixture all wrapped I noticed that maybe the twine around the adapters wasn’t too smart so I removed them. ha! It will look great in her new rustic laundry room.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comment. I love that you came by to read my Pinterest Pin Challenge.

I decorate on a budget so I try to work with what I have, so this light fixture was a great project to find an inspirational pin to work on it.
